AGM-158 use problem
-
I often have a problem with using AGM-158 and other cruise missiles. When the target is locked, but not in the launch radius, the scale and marker are displayed. But when I fly up to the launch radius, the scale disappears and does not appear anymore and I can’t fire the missile.
Am I probably doing something wrong, or is this some kind of bug?

You have to watch your airspeed, altitude, and all other flight dynamics.
BMS-Training.pdf, page 166, says “The JIZ indication will be blanked for altitudes above 40000 ft, airspeeds below M0.6 or above M0.95, pitch or bank angles greater than 30° and when target bearing exceeds 60°.”
I’ve lost track of the number of times I’m in the JIZ and have to slap on the airbrakes and zero the throttle so I don’t have to make a second pass…
Note that similar windows apply to most AG weapons. BLU-107, anyone?

Thanks for the reply. I will try to use the AGM-158 correctly.
