Sky luminosity in shared memory
-
Is it to crazy to have some kind of sky luminosity, color or something that we can use through shared memory? The idea would be to iluminate our real room imitating the virtual sky using rgb leds. I currently use the current time plus sunset and sunrise info from the briefing. Is not near as good as to have realtime rgb info from the current virtual sky at the current position. Sun,moon, cloud, air base lighting they all affect how you see

@lcriscola very hackish, but as a proof of concept, one could probably write a few dozen lines of code to grab latest jpg/png from the screenshot folder… scan around the upper perimeter to determine a median r,g,b value
then just hit the [PrtScn] key at any time during flight, to adjust your lighting accordingly

It may require a bit more of coding, but, why don’t you build direcly a simplified sunrise/sunset model?
There is quite some literature available, and all the relevant info are already circulating in the shared memory. You can have a pretty decent one with:- time
- latitude
- longitude
- altitude
- heading
- depending on the detail / number of LEDS, you may also consider body angles phi, theta psi.
As far as the color palette is concerned, you may “sample” from custom TE / screenshots.

@airtex2019 I like your idea, but I ld like to automate the screenshot capturing and for that I need to know when I am looking at the front. So I don’t accidentally take a screenshot the panels. Didn’t find anything related to that in shared memory

OR, we could have multi-frustum rendering, and and a projection on the ceiling…
