IAI Lavi

Looking amazing @Radium. The only thing I think that You could look at improving is there shape of the throttle.
To my eyes this image shows a handle that is tilted up at about 40 degrees. And offers a nice rest for the pilots hand. I don’t see the TDC being on the end. Maybe you have some other photos?

@SOBO-87 Hello ! This is a very good remark. At first, my throttle was like that. In fact, I later found that it was just impossible to pilot with a throttle like that (I even made some real life experiments with some cardboard and fabric. In fact, I believe that the throttle on this picture was rotated, to make pictures.
This is always what is difficult with this kind of work : you need to figure our the difference between what is shown and what it would have been in reality.
Nevertheless, I don’t mean I am right, I just did what looked the best to me !

Hello everyone,
I am very happy to show you the progress of Lavi cockpit.
I have to confess that I more and more worry about the unwrapping nightmare it’s gonna me. But anyway, must do it !
This time, I will not share ingame video, because non-texture polygons trend to be so dark that you can barely see what’s inside a complex cockpit.
Here you go :
As you see, ejection seat it fully done. It was very painful, as MK10 used on Lavi was as far as I know, unique.
Here you go for the full model :
Some might think that it’s close to what exists on F-18, but it is really different.
I hope you will like it !
Best regards,
Radium

I don’t know how you are as a pilot. but as a 3d artist you have an unmatched talent. I certify it.

@VIPER-0 Not sure if I was a good pilot. But what is sure is that long time ago I kinda flew a lot !

John Golan estimates for the Lavi, comparable to figures I’ve seen for the Gripen and mirage
-
Just gonna drop this here, its from the 30 year cancellation event of the lavi. Had some scale mockups
Could be interesting to think of india partnering up with israel to build the lavi instead of the tejas, since both are small and carry the same missions almost -
Hello,
very interesting !!!
Yeah, I could have done an indian livery !

Hi, amazing work on your Lavi. I was wondering what type of blueprints did you use during the preparation of the 3D model, as for years I have been looking for accurate Lavi drawings without much success. A few years ago a guy called Bekim was working on the 1/32 Lavi, and he was able to get some assistance from the IAI (see: here), but he was not able to disclose the whole 3-view plan. Would it be possible for you to share such drawings, or even generate them based on your 3D model?
-
@Lolek Hello,
Believe me or not : I never used any kind of blueprint.
As I said numerous times before, I never work with blueprints, because they are always wrong.
I only work with photos, which more relevant.
I just rebuilt everything, from pictures.
I am not sure that I can do blueprints with my model. What would be the final use ?
Best regards,

@Radium Then it is even more impressive that you were able to get such results purely from photos. My main interest is for modeling purposes - making an accurate Lavi is highly problematic due to the rather scarce availability of plans/photos, even a simple 3-view of the 3D model would be a great help.
