JHMCS dissappear mid-flight /on the ground
-
@airtex2019 that’s a good point, it getting mapped to an axis would cause that. Only thing I could think of overriding the mouse clicks even. I pulled over all my .xmls from 4.36 with the AL but don’t recall mapping the axis, but I bet that’s what I did and forgot . Away from the computer for at least another 24 hours most likely though.
-
@Snake122 yeah especially if you mapped it to a vJoy axis or something, it would be easy to forget about.
and it’s also true, that there are some axes in game that sometimes (?) respond to both callbacks and analog axis movement … I think the main throttle does, iirc. so it’s complicated, and might explain the confusing/inconsistent behavior you’re seeing
-
I’ve got no axis bound to the HMCS/HUD, nor even a key. It’s not a key issue
-
@Nickos86 I’ve been experiencing the same. Also in VR.
Calibrate on ground, once airborne, no longer functional. Power cycling doesn’t fix it, and DMS down-long does nothing.
-
@S3NTRY I am experiencing the same in VR and it is linked to the use of external or other than 3D cockpit view in my experience. If you stay in the 3D cockpit it does not disappear and works as nomal. I use VRNS to look around instead and that does the job.

Does invoking the
SimVRHMDReset
callback do anything helpful?(I really don’t know, just happened to notice its name…)

No idea if that’s topic-related in any way…
But today I had a similar problem.
Flying online, Balkans campaign, wingman of a two-ship, ramp start, no VR.I could not manage to activate HMCS during ramp, so I flew the mission without it.
I use an X-55 Rhino and have the HMCS brightness assigned to a rotary knob.
But it’s not the axis that didn’t work… it was the HMCS ON/OFF function that was gone.
After the mission, I checked the mapping in the AL… and the lines for HMCS ON and OFF were completely gone.
Disappeared out of the list.
Ceased to be.
No filter or similar was in use.
AL read only the two lines for increase and decrease, but my keys for the ON/OFF switch did not find a target anymore.Went ingame, picked my callsign-keyfile in setup, saved and went outside to the AL again - there the lines were back again.
I slowly get the idea that the AL keyfile management has the tendency to sometimes forget keys. I’m feeling a little bit spooky at the moment.

@Yeti-UK I’m going to try a few things to see if I can narrow down the cause. Thanks for the info.
-
@airtex2019 it appears not. I am pretty sure I have tried that multiple times, but will give it another try and report back.
-
@Amadeus75 I don’t think it is. My binds have been unaffected by any of this. They work fine at ramp start (specifically with JHMCS) every time.
It’s more that the JHMCS system itself just flakes out.
-
This looks like stencil buffer being foobared, could be related to mirror code.
Can you try this, in your config file, look for the
set g_sNonCompatibleChanges
and change it to:set g_sNonCompatibleChanges "all-NC_CHANGE_REARVIEW_MIRRORS"
Does it fix the problem?
-
@Seifer thanks for the suggestion, I will give it a try as soon as possible, and report back.
-
@Seifer unfortunately that didn’t do the trick.
But I did test the external view just after having calibrated JHMCS and sure enough, back in the pit, it was dead.
-
@Yeti-UK this appears to be the problem (or part of it).
Not sure this should be marked resolved just yet.
-
@S3NTRY thanks for testing, Ill try to reproduce the problem here.
-
@Seifer thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
