@airtex2019
@dumba
@SemlerPDX
Unfortunately that is not the case -
@duke73 well darn … I really don’t have any other clue.
as Dumba noted, it seems to be your CPU that’s struggling. what does TaskMgr say? do you maybe some malware mining crypto, in the background?
I also have an i7-9700 … at 60 fps, overall CPU usage from BMS is about 30%. (typically you’ll see 1 core maxed 100% and several other cores utilizing about 40%.)
also grab a tool to monitor your CPU temps… Afterburner or Frameview or OCCT etc.

@duke73 Hello, can you check if you have a software called Nahimic installed? It is an audio program that comes with MSI motherboards. Had the same issue on 4.36 because windows update installed it and caused this type of problem. Once uninstalled it, the framerates came back to normal for my system. Even if you don’t have Nahimic, it is a software issue, a program that you have on your system causing this type of behavior. You must find the program that causing this and if you not need it, uninstall it.
-
It could be good hint, but as you see the CPU is not overloaded when running Falcon BMS
-
@duke73 Virus?
-
-
Norton installed and up to date…
-
@TigerShark
It is not present on my PC -

Not saying you do, but having Norton up to date does not mean you don’t have a virus. Just sayin’
-
Temperature are ok.
About 42° C for CPU and 50° C for GPU.Another tip: there is no sound at all. Neither in the game selection page neither in the cockpit…
I’m really without any ideas…
BTW, Falcon 4.0 is working well.
-
@duke73 this is truly a mystery. all I can say is, if you do figure it out, please report back here… we will all learn something new!
from TigerShark comments above, it does seem conceivable that something is very wrong with audio device driver interaction…
if you have a USB headset or something handy, try that? after disabling all other audio devices, in DevMgmt.msc - and rebooting
if your monitor has speakers, you can try enabling the nvidia audio driver (audio over hdmi/displayport)

Side note and not the solution to your 2fps problem (but maybe a solution to a problem you haven’t run into yet):
There’s 0 need for 3rd party antivirus software in 2023. You could actually consider Norton to be the malware in this scenario
-
I would argue there is no need to be running any anti virus software in 2023 at all
A good browser (my choice is vivaldi these days) with the essential plugins (ublock origin, EFF privacy badger and maybe NoScript if you’re really paranoid) and good sanitary browsing / download / torrenting habits should do the trick.
AV is always too little too late and it causes more trouble with all those “false positives” and its performance issues that usually hit you at the most inconvenient time than is worth the hassle IMHO.
Another option is installing Linux and only booting into windows for gaming, or installing Linux in a VM (virtualbox is free for private use, as is WSL I think) and running your browser in the Linux VM to be on the safe side. Data can be exchanged between the VM and the host system using a shared folder, for instance.
As for the FPS issue at hand, I really have no idea what could be causing this… but do share the solution please once you get to the bottom of this problem. I assume other games / sims are working fine on your rig?
Cheers,
Uwe

Have you tried to re-install?
-
KVM is a good option if you run Linux natively. I’m not aware of a windows version however (I haven’t looked though tbh).
KVM can be daunting for a VM n00b so I think Virtualbox is a decent enough option to get started.
Cheers, Uwe

@hoover QEMU is a good option on windows as well
-
Yes, still a mystery.
My next move would be to reinstall everything. Do you know any procedure for a full clean uninstall that would also clean the registry?
Thanks -
@duke73 BCUninstaller is a good, free, open-sourced uninstaller that also cleans up registry “junk”. Its a power user type program so, verify what you are deleting before deleting it.
Having said that, registry values are likely not going to solve your problem.

@duke73 it depends a little on how you paid for / acquired Windows … but MS makes it very easy these days to download Win10/11 installer directly onto a USB stick
https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/But remember step 1 is to BACKUP EVERYTHING you care about.
Step 2, is to BACKUP EVERYTHING else you forgot about in step 1…
Step 3, is to take opportunity to update your BIOS. (Actually go ahead and do that as Step 0… whoknows maybe it will solve problem, if it’s something related to onboard audio or other device driver conflicts?)
