Help with DX SHIFT
-
All, new to the forum and new to BMS. I recently got an X55 from a coworker for $20 and I’m trying to get back into Falcon 4.0/Falcon BMS. I’m running 4.37 and using the launcher to setup the controls. I am having a problem with the pinky shift. In the launcher I see only STICK: PINKY SWITCH. There’s no DX SHIFT. I just can’t figure out how to get the pinky shift working. Any help would be appreciated.

@YellowHawk it’s there… search for word “shift”?

When I search for “shift” I get the following:
If I search “pinky” I see:

I think I figured it out from another thread I came across that you posted some time back. I edited the “BMS - Auto.key” file. When I opened it I only saw the line:SimPinkySwitch -1 0 0x2F 0 0 0 1 “STICK: PINKY SWITCH”
I replaced that line with:
SimHotasPinkyShift -1 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 1 “STICK: PINKY SWITCH (DX SHIFT)”
Now I see (DX SHIFT)…I haven’t tried mapping it to anything yet but I’ll try it later today.

@YellowHawk something got borked somehow
If you need to clean and start over, you can select BMS-Full.key which will repopulate the “catalog” of available commands
But if you have a lot of time and effort invested in your key binds, yes might have to learn to repair it.

I was able to test it and the DX SHIFT is working properly now.I cannot seem to get the little mini stick to work on the X55. I was reading through the X55 setup documentation you shared and found a section on editing the registry I believe to make the mini stick work. I know how to get into the registry and can get to this key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VI
D_0738&PID_A215Just not sure what to do from there to add the info below. Can you walk me through that? Do I right click and create new key or sting value, etc.?
Ministick/Mouse Registry Fix (X55-only).
All this fix does is adding these lines to your (windows) registry to make the mini stick
assignable in BMS UI (or other sims). This fix has been tested with windows 7/8/10.
Despite it is a very small change to your registry which can do no harm, I always advise
to make a backup of the registry before applying.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VI
D_0738&PID_A215\Axes]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VI
D_0738&PID_A215\Axes\6]
“Attributes”=hex:01,81,00,00,05,00,24,00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VI
D_0738&PID_A215\Axes\7]

This is what I see now: -

Sorry to be clear I don’t have any Saitek products so I can’t be very much help.
I’ve seen others reference the registry tweak, to make the ministick work better… seems like a good option.
But I don’t know if the registry values are different for X52 vs X55 etc. Probably are.

Thanks, my bad…it was Snelle that originally had the files and docs for the X55. That’s where I got the registry info. -
@YellowHawk to answer your question tho, if you look at other threads on this mostly folks will save the registry-code lines to a text file (.reg extension) and double-click on it, to add/overwrite the necessary lines in the registry
doing it “by hand” is possible but will be a serious pain
(most of these threads are re X52 or X65… the PID and VID values are different, and maybe the special hex values differ too, idk)
