[Linux] Alternative Launcher does not show checkmarks
-
On my end the Alternative Launcher does not show any checkmarks in any of the checkboxes for any enabled features. For example in the screenshot below “Pilot Model” and “Smart Scaling” are enabled but the checkboxes show as empty. Clicking on it multiple times doesn’t change that. I assume a library has to be installed through winetricks, but after a lot of experimenting I wasn’t able to figure out which one.
Currently the following libraries are installed: dotnet40, dotnet48, corefonts, vcrun2015, dxvk (which also installed d3dcompiler_43, d3dcompiler_47, d3dx9). I am on Manjaro with Wine-staging 8.5.1, using Lutris as a launcher. I followed these intructions https://github.com/SquadFM/Falcon-4-BMS-Linux#falcon-4-bms-on-linux-with-wine-and-lutris-tested-with-bms-437
Tagging @Xeno and @Ferde since I know you use Linux.
Has anyone found a fix to show checkmarks in the Alternative Launcher?

@Munster I am so sorry I missed this. Xeno gave me the heads up.
As I mention in this thread https://forum.falcon-bms.com/post/382977
No, I don’t see the tickmarks either. -
Bug reported in on Wine bugzilla:
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55850 -
AL uses a couple 3P libraries of UI components – ControlzEx and MahApps.Metro … not sure which to blame for the weird checkbox behavior.
Given that the “box” renders, but not the “check” … my guess is, they’re applying some visual style that specifies a Windows-specific font glyph for the checkmark.
This is very funny, to me … bc whenever we were bootstrapping a new UI framework, at MS, pretty much the first thing we’d build as a proof-of-concept was a Checkbox control … or ToggleButton. It’s the simplest thing that (a) renders both text and vector geometry, and (b) manages some state.
