Solved [4.37.2] HUD display visible outside of HUD boundaries when looking at other aircraft.

Likely the same bug as here, but my experience was a bit different and I could get some new info on how to replicate and the forum automatically suggested submitting it as a new topic as the old report is pretty old: 4.37.1 - VR - HUD outside of HUD, if I should have replied there just let me know.

521Detailed Description
Whenever another aircraft is close and visible through the HUD, and the perspective/head is quickly moved to look in the direction of another aircraft while bypassing the HUD, some HUD markings (and some barely perceptible green background glow) persist even though we are no longer looking through the HUD glass display. The marking can be brightened/dimmed via the HUD gain control. It unrelated to the HMCS, which I can turn out without making a difference for this effect. When the aircraft (probably) causing the issue leaves the FOV of the HUD, the markings disappear as well, generally starting from the direction away from the aircraft. It can be described as some aircraft having a visible “aura” around them.It seems to be somewhat related to range, on the GroundOps TE, I can easily get it to happen with the F-5s taxiing past my parting spot, but from that position it does not always happen for the plane taking off a but further away. It always happens when taxiing, as there is a 4-ship F-16s standing in front of me. The linked report seems to be a similar case, the screenshots were looking at other planes taxiing. I could not test it while flying yet because tbh I can barely start or land without killing myself and never got close enough to another aircraft. One difference I noticed was that for me it looked like the markings were BEHIND the planes, but in front of the terrain, but that may have been random. This is obviously nothing gamebreaking, just a little annoyance. Could not reproduce without VR.

Reproducibility Procedure
- While taxiing, look through the HUD at another plane closeby (TE1 GroundOPs works great)
- Quickly look at the plane past the HUD (Move your head up or sideways).
- Some HUD markings should still be visible, notably the horizon line. Not everything is visible. There may be a faint green glow like the one visible when looking directly through the HUD, but I only notice that when the image clears in the next step.
- As the plane moves away laterally from the perspective of the HUD, the “mirage” image disappears.
Expected Behavior
The HUD should only be visible when looking through the actual physical display. -
@Sloth this has something to do with the heat blur. Turn off the heat blur in the config editor and see if the issue is still there.

@cougar56th you are right, with g_bUseHeatHazeShader set to 0 the issue disappears. At the cost of no heat blur, but that’s not too bad. Thanks!
Not sure if I should mark this as solved as the bug is still present in principle, but at least there is a workaround.
