Need help getting BMS to run in VR
-
I cannot get BMS to recognize my VR configuration.
I’m running Steam VR with a Varjo headset. Open VR is enabled.
The install folder is in the same path as both falcon and BMS, and it simply will not run in VR.
There’s no option on the launcher to select VR. I’ve tried changing the config file to “force” it to run. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Just to confirm, you performed the steps in the “BMS-VR-Guide.pdf” as well? (\Falcon BMS 4.37\Docs\01 Input Devices\04 VR Guide) There should be an “Enable” option visible and next to “Virtual Reality:” on the Alternative Launcher when Steam VR is being recognized. Since “There’s no option on the launcher to select VR.” it seems to be an issue with your Steam VR setup and BMS not recognizing it. According to the “BMS-VR-Guide.pdf”: “Note: If there is no Steam VR installed or not recognized by BMS, the VR option in the BMS launcher is not visible.”

Yes I went into the guide and got stuck at pretty much step one because the tab doesn’t show to enable VR, which in the guide says it means it can’t detect steamvr… I don’t know why it can’t it’s installed in the same directory, steam vr is up to date and on the beta version as well.
DCS and IL2 both run fine in VR

@Tempest7MR I had the same. Full uninstall and reinstall of SteamVR sorted it.
-
@rubbra while BMS is installed or reinstall both or what?
-
@Tempest7MR there have been some recent fixes in the new Alt Launcher to more reliably detect SteamVR install location … will probably appear in the next update
I think you can manually launch BMS in VR mode, by specifying the
-vr
on the command line. That’s all the Alt Launcher does, when “VR” checkbox is selected. -
@airtex2019 how do you do that in the command line?
-
@Tempest7MR just basic Windows stuff… same way you run any program. just make yourself a new Shortcut on the desktop.
or start / run and paste
"C:\Falcon BMS 4.37\Bin\x64\Falcon BMS.exe" -nomovie -vr
into the textbox then click Ok -

@airtex2019 that worked, thank you so much!
-
@Tempest7MR so do i need to do all the keybinds in game since this bypasses the launcher, and/or is there a way to copy that keybind file to the main game?
-
@Tempest7MR you should be able to utilize the new launcher for that… launching in pancake mode once* will write all the key and stick bindings.
*actually there are some weird bugs, fixed hopefully in U3, you might have to launch BMS this way 2 or 3 times to write all the necessary files. If you see “BMS-Auto.key” as the name of your key file, in game, then you’re good.
