Secretlabs gaming chair experience, anyone?
-
I’m considering getting a gaming chair. I need some support for my neck when I fly, and the Secretlab’s Titan Evo seems to be one of the best ones around. It’s also one of the most expensive, so if anyone has any experience with this company and their chairs I’d love to hear about it.
I was about to pull the trigger this morning but I found some reviews on the 'net that were terrible - essentially complaining about the horrible customer service.
Thank you!

@mbarry hey Mike, we have had two Secretlab chairs (not the Titan Evo) in this household. I use mine as my work-from-home office chair as well as for gaming. They are generally very good. It is comfortable for hours, although the seat can get a bit warm if you don’t get the fabric upholstery. Probably an issue with most chairs though.
Something which I use a lot is that the seat tilts as well (not just the back), that was important for me when I had to choose a chair.
One thing to look out for is the back recline, do that gently! My teenage son ended up breaking that mechanism due to his way of tilting back quickly without a full pull on the handle. Like pulling a handbrake in a car where you don’t push in the button so you get the ratchet sound if that makes sense. Anyway, that is one chair down due to that. But otherwise no complaints at all.
Do note that if you plan on using a VR headset, the headrest might be in the way since it is quite wide and for VR your body movements can be slightly hindered by the racing style sides. I use TrackIR and it is a great chair but do keep that VR aspect in mind.
Good luck with whatever chair you choose, I have been eyeing the Titan Evo myself with fabric upholstery for my next chair

I love it personally. Had it for several years now and the quality is still there. I mainly play flight sims in VR and no issues.

@mbarry I have the Titan Evo myself. Love the full rage of adjustability. Took me about a week to get it dialed in . Piece of advise, get the lumbar pillow

@jayb Thanks for the reply and the recommendations, Jay!
From your description it sounds like you got the leatherette upholstery. Does it peel and chafe easily? I’m a bit reluctant to get the fabric because I would think it’d be hard to clean and keep from staining.
What I’m most worried about is customer service. There are some people that have actually made Youtube videos about how bad their customer service is if there is a problem with the chair when you get it.
Anyway, I appreciate the help!

@DaveB I am considering getting it. Seems to me it might be better to have that than the lumbar adjustment on the chair itself.
Thanks

I do have the leatherette upholstery. Not even taking any particular care of it, there is no tear and wear at all. I would be concerned about proper fabric regarding cleaning from the occasional coffee spill, my upholstery is so easy to just wipe down. This is with a Secretlab OMEGA 2020. I might just go for leatherette again if I wanted the Titan, but with some kind of cushion in the seat.

@mbarry It is a very firm chair. I find that the sweet spot for the built in lumbar support is just a little bit high for my back.
