@lazystone ive seen you can use 3dsmax, but can you use blender?
-
@AWACS334 why don’t you use 3dsMax ?
-
@Radium i have just started a free trial, but every time i try to install it, it says " extraction failed, can not open output file"
-
@AWACS334 strange…

@AWACS334
I … can’t use blender!You could use blender, but just not export the 3D models to BMS as yet.
A blender exporter for BMS is almost done and will see lights of day next year for sure.

u can make your basic model in blender and you will need max if your model will have moving parts or Falcon functionality needed and to export it to the falcon bms format.
In the future a Blender falcon bms exporter will be available so 3ds max will not be the only tool to create and export models for bms. -
@AWACS334
A Blender exporter is in the works and will be released probably with 4.37.4. Releasing it for earlier versions will not work due to technical reasons. If you want to start modelling, you can already do that - just model the polys in Blender and use the Blender Materials for texturing. The exporter should be able to pick it up from there.
I suggest you start with simple stuff, like static objects (houses), ships, … -
Great news about finally seeing blender support in the BMS toolchain!
All the best, Uwe

It’s difficult for me, too. I’m an automotive engineer, and I use Autodesk Alias to make A-sides of cars, but it’s very different from Autodesk 3DMAX, and I’m teaching myself 3DMAX.

just as a reminder blender exporter is in beta testing so 3dsmax will not be needed in order to create a falcon functional model.
this doesn’t mean max exporter will not exist.
it’s kinda hard to switch from one app to the other when you have many years of experience so creators will have both tools on their disposal.
