The F16 blocks

I briefly read the flight model manual (HFFM manual) to try to understand the difference between the various blocks. I understand that there are differences, even if minimal, but in the simulator what criteria do I use to choose which block to fly?

@DennyITA it’s really up to your personnal taste honestly, some blocks are older and lack certain features of newer blocks. Some blocks are country specific, like Israël versions or MLU. So in specific theatre you will only have block that are available to that era or country etc.

Thanks but regarding the models, avionics, ordnance, missiles, etc., I considered the dash34 table (page 592). I would like to know the substantial difference of the engines of the blocks, F100PW200, F100PW220, F100PW229, F110GE100 and F110GE129.

To better understand we must consider the mass-production series in the US inventory; basically after block 25 the US DoD decided to endorse the two big homeland engine manufacturers: General Electric and Pratt & Withney, using both engines for the block 30’s. To recognize the versions, they started to use different block nr; -30 equipped with GE engine, -32 with P&W. And this suffix going on up to block 50/52 (included plus versions); block 60’s, 70’s and V’s are made for export only so far, and fit the GE engine only. The differences between GE and P&W, and different versions are so many and articulated that could result tediously to explain here. Useless to say that it’s easy to find the history of various versions online.
For what regarding BMS, I strongly suggest to read the HFFM Manual that you can find in Docs folder. It’s an exhaustive book that explain the difference between engines and how they has been modelled onto the simulator.
