Is there a way to use mouse as joystick?
-
I am a big fan of flight simulation. Thanks to the BMS Team’s wonderful work, I loved this excellent masterpiece at first bite when my friends introduced it to me.
I have a t16000m, but it is a little bit hard to take and enjoy games with it at fragmented times during business trips. I read from the BMS setup and found that could use the keyboard to control. Is there a way to use a mouse as a joystick?For example in another flight simulation, could use a key to change mouse modes: Normal, Flight Control, and View Direction. And in Flight Control mode, “In control mode, you can control the aircraft flight controls by moving the mouse. This mode is indicated by a cross-hair mouse cursor. In this mode, moving the mouse left or right controls the ailerons, which will roll the aircraft. Moving the mouse forwards and or backwards controls the elevator and changes the pitch of the aircraft.
Holding the left mouse button down changes the behaviour so that moving the mouse left/right controls the rudder. Holding the middle mouse button down and moving the mouse forwards/backwards controls the throttle. Finally, the scroll-wheel may be used to set the elevator trim.”Does BMS have some way to config like this? Actually, I only want to use the mouse to control ailerons, elevators, and rudder.
Thanks in advance! -
@Landsame No. Recommend you get a cheap USB game controller, for use when travelling. (It will probably fly better than a T.16000M :))

@Landsame You can use FoxVox to do this. You can translate mouse input to any custom output; including keyboard key presses or even virtual joystick commands using vJoy. It’s free and adds voice control capabilities as well. Be sure to watch the v2.0 tutorial video on youtube for more info.

@Landsame
Are you talking about XPlane? Even if you could in BMS, how will you do combat? How will you change from view control to flight control to keep eyes on bandit and move your aircraft with the same controller input (mouse)? Even for an A-G attack, I doubt the mouse will give you enough fine/accurate control to be effective.You can, however, use a gamepad and use the little control sticks as your joystick and throttle. I feel that’s a better way to go about controlling the aircraft when you can’t bring your HOTAS gear.

Thanks in advance!You can fly with the mouse as a joystick (with external programs, some members of our wing do it and I was even doing it to test it for the boys for more than half a year, until I return to flying with the keyboard.

@airtex2019
Very good suggestion, thanks a lot!@foxster
I truly appreciate you! I will check it!@Atlas
Thank you for helping me. The example is from Flightgear(https://flightgear.sourceforge.net/manual/2020.3/en/getstart-ench5.html#mousecontrolled-actions), it could use the key “tab” for quick changing of mouse mode. After practice, I am accustomed to using this kind of operation. But, maybe you are right, using a gamepad and the little control sticks could be better.@VIPER-0
It was so awesome of you! Thanks for your recommendations and resources again!!!I will try FoxVox(Foxster’s suggestion) or a game controller(airtex2019’s recommendation) and also VJOY and UCR from great VIPER. 0
. Please accept my vehement protestations of gratitude to all of you! -
This is what we use on our wing. a combination of VJOY and UCR. This is the simplest and best combination. as I say. The old confisble. when everything is lost. Let me know if you have any questions, I’ll be happy to help.

also if you are looking for a way to fly BMS without joysticks, try this xinput mode
