Winwing stamina over time.
-
I have winwing orion 1 throttle since november 2021 (so almost 2 years) no problems for now.
I also have a MSFSSB with f16 grip which I bought recently (3 weeks ago) and for now I am really satisfied, but on this I cannot speak on the long run. -
thank you for the feedback guys.
So probably I should go for this.May I ask another thing as I’m confused
what is the difference between
Orion2 Throttle Base
and
Orion2 Throttle Base 10th Anniversary Limited Version
? -
I’d recommend the Orion throttle but not the RFSSB stick. Let me explain, One of my friends who fly with me a lot bought the force sensing Winwing stick and the force ratios were way off and there is not way to calibrate it.
We tried everything and nothing helped. One other guy in my discord got the same combo and his stick was OK.
With the throttle it was not the case because I am using it too and it is near perfect. Which is the case with 4 other users in my discord.
I think the FSSB-R3 Lighting is the best option with the Winwing Orion throttle plus you can use your old grip with the FSSB-R3 Lighting.
If you go with the FSSB-R3 Lighting I recommend the F-16-C Angle Adapter.

FSSB-R3 Lighting
Well this is another option I consider besides the Winwing.
I have hallsensor on the throttle which is great. But the FSSB-R3 is pretty expensive overall for what it offers.
I’m not saying it’s not good, but it get’s under the u pay much for the name…
Also 65€ for the plastic adapter? I have that already with about 1€ with two small wedges under the cougar base.
I would expect a more robust implementation for the angle adapter as with just that adapter u stress more the internals and specially the forward area as all the weight falls on it.
finally I will also need and a Tusba adapter for the throttle with it which will add 115€ so it gets near the 670 hopping it will not have transportation fees…
and all I will get new is just the sensor. The person that has issues with the winwing calibration issue I believe he must return it back and get a new one or a replacement while in warranty.
Also recently I heard from a valid source that a lady using the FSSB it broke. ouch 490€ to the trash… pilots still scratch their head how she managed that as it “looks” rather good.

@Arty
push button and Knob different
connector materials different
logo different
all functions are the same

@Arty you can save some money. If you have the Cougar TQS, you can skip the TUSBA by just connecting the whole Cougar and setting aside the stick base. But from what I understand you use the Cougar grip with your new base, so be careful because if the Cougar base has no grip attached, it acts like all the grip buttons are pressed. If you create a new keymap, you will be fine. I have this setup and it was discussed here.

I was a little late to this party. I use the Orion 2 with the F16 grip and love it. Honestly, this gives me the ergonomics of the old TM Cougar TQS, but all the buttons and switches from a throttle like the Warthog or the X56. I have been using my Orion since July of last year and it has held up rather well and for me well worth the money spent.

Are you talking about the angle adapter for the FSSB R3? It’s not plastic, it’s machined metal and it’s totally solid. I personally love my FSSB R3, it’s been bulletproof for years of heavy use now. But yes it is expensive.

FSSB R3
thanx. I’m sure FSSB-R3 is great but the money for it for me are way high…
With that money u can buy a HOTAS, so just for the FSSB it doesn’t justify it’s money for me.
Sure if I had the money for it and get it am sure I would say it’s worth it… -
I’ve been using the Orion II with F-16EX grip since November and I really like it. The only “shortcoming” so far is that compared to the Warthog HOTAS TQS I used before, the entire thing is too light and I have to fasten it to the desk using velcro (the suction caps won’t cut it and and I cannot mount it in its location permanently).
Even with velcro it’s always a bit “wobbly” and doesn’t provide as solid as a feeling as the Warthog, but I can live with that
Cheers, Uwe

@Arty oh I agree. I bought it as a present to myself and I knew it was kinda crazy at the time. But I’ve loved every second of flying with it. And my brother who flew the Viper IRL a fair bit thinks BMS through that stick feels very convincing, so that’s good enough for me!
