Custom KTO Campaign: Viper's Nest
-
I’ve done a number of KTO campaigns from start to finish. I’ve gotten somewhat familiar with using Mission Commander to assist me creating and running campaigns. I always create and control a F-16 squadron, and I create and use assisting squadrons to create and run all of my multi-flight missions.
I’ve run Tiger Spirit, Rolling Fire, and Iron Fortress campaigns, and now I want to modify one of them for a customized KTO Campaign that I’m calling Viper’s Nest.
I start out with an Iron Fortress scenario, flying out of Gwangju. But I’ve expanded the campaign goal. To win, I not only have to retake Seoul, but I also have to retake ALL of South Korea, and then push forward into North Korea with the intent of finally unifying Korea once and for all by capturing Seoul and Wonsan.
Playing around with a modified VIPERNEST.tri is new territory for me, but I think I’ve got it set up correctly to run the campaign as described above, with a campaign limit of 20 days to do it.
I’ll make posts here occasionally updating the progress, or reporting disaster if it wasn’t set up well.
The main question I have, particularly for any BMS Devs who might be familiar with establishing initial military resources for a given scenario: Do the ROK in Iron Fortress have initially adequate military units to go beyond retaking Seoul and pushing further into North Korea, or will I have to (either initially, or eventually) add ground-based battalions, and even possibly air-based squadrons, to the ROK inventory to make this happen??? I’d really appreciate feedback/opinion on this aspect. Thanks in advance.

@SoBad sorry for the lack of reply.
Really busy with U4 now…critical phase.
I will reply to you soon ( if no other dev replies first). -
@SoBad
Maybe this is not just a question to the Devs, but more for campaign builders.
I’d think anything could be possible with the given campaigns if you change the winning conditions of the tri file. Then it’s rather a question of campaign difficulty. This would have to be tested after the modification.One hint: Instead of adding battallions and squadrons, just increase the default numbers of single units in them? For tests you could in the first place simply use the force ratio sliders when selecting a campaign.

Good suggestion. Hadn’t thought of that. I’m 11 missions into this campaign now and making slow but steady progress. After I retake Seoul, I’ll re-evaluate my resources for the ambitious follow-up.
