A modelling experiment
-
Greetings everyone,a couple of days ago i decided to finally challenge myself and see if i can model a plane.I always wanted to try and i am not that new to 3D modelling, however i am not that great either and i have a lot of things to learn. So,I decided to share here my creation and see what tips the modelers of the community have to offer and what everyone else things of my creation.I welcome all criticism since i want to improve.
The plane i modeled is what i call the F27A or mostly known by its program name NGAD.Since the announcement of the project and the various concept arts released by the companies participating in the project,i have been fascinated by the design and what it may be. So here is my take lets say on what it may look like!
I used Blender to create the model and sketchbook for the textures.I know 3Ds Max is much better for modelling and for falcon BMS,but i am not planning on adding the plane to the game,i can’t and i don’t even know how.Although i would like one day when i learn 3Ds Max and improve my skills to create a plane for the game.

WAY cool!!!
-
@Stevie Thanks it has a lot of issues but it turned out good.
-
@petrouvis - you’ll work those out. Coolest thing is that you can do anythinng you want with the cockpit. Guess good!
-
@Stevie I have a rough placeholder cockpit for now, this one
I created it from scratch while referencing F35 Avionics
But a lot more thinking and design need to be made. -
@petrouvis - good start. I’d suggest looking over pictures of the T-7A cockpit for ideas. Design options are wide open!
-
@Stevie I will check it out!

@petrouvis Nope 3dsmax ain’t better than Blender.
It was just the only way till now, and it mostly has 2 do with which one u have experience on.Both have their pros and cons as everything similar in life… Blender is excused as a free app, Max can be laughed at as the Goliath in the room…
Example unwrapping a big super detailed model (example a pit) in MAX is just for laughs and the definition of pain. On the other hand the same thing in Blender is like MAX is back at year 2009… lol
So super big respect to bms pit creators above all others, just for this…
Edit: Nice curves on the model by the way…

@Arty Personally i prefer working with blender, i have found i prefer it over autocad and 3Ds Max but cockpits are something i need to work on now its a placeholder. Also thanks indeed it has nice curves.
