4K Resolution possible?
-
Isn’t that because you’re maxxing out the HDMI resolution capability?
Can’t you connect display port ? Then the max resolution will appear.
I had the same issue when switching from display port to HDMI for testing purposesGPU detected multiple times but neither of the options giving the native res of the monitor. Although it’s given when the monitor is connceted with Displayport

My HDMI runs directly into the Graphics Amplifier, not my laptop so I don’t think it’s an apples to apples comparison. I understand what you’re saying, but all graphics run thru the amplifier and from the amp into the monitor.

didn’t see anything earlier on this but. did you try setting monitor refresh to 30 hz as this is all that is possible with hdmi at 4k
-
My monitor is connected by display port and set at 30 hz. Still have the issue…

No joy here either……really wanna crack this to dig back into this great update.

I feel your pain, but its over my pay grade…
I almost committed to a Philips 40", it would have been so sweet.
-
Shadow you would love it. That’s what I’m running……total game changer for me

Oh dear…does not look like I will be flying the Viper any time soon…a worrying lack of similar issues and solutions…
DCS world 2 here I come…

Feedback from the developers:
The list of valid modes is directly queried from the DX drivers. They are filtered by BMS in the following way:
width has to be at least 1024 px
height has to be at least 480 px
refresh frequency has to be at least 60 HzThat’s it. No other filtering applied (assuming HW acceleration is available etc.).
So maybe your GPU is one of those which report not 60, but 59 Hz for some resolutions? In that case, the 60 Hz limit can be disabled, if you like to try it.
Just add the following option to your config file:
set g_bAllowAllRefreshRates 1 -
Thanks, but no joy with that one……
My monitor is a 30 hz 40 inch Phillips 3840 x 2160 native res.
I guess I am stuffed then …as it dont run at any other refresh rate. Is this something that can easily be remedied code wise, or is it mega tricky and never likely to happen?
I still have my old 60 hz Dell 30 inch monitor, but I cant see myself swapping monitors everytime I want to fire up Falcon…
Surely many new monitors are working at 30Hz now…?
Cheers, mark

Well bellow 60Hz and sims are 2 different things that should never coexist
The trend in monitors and TV is the higher the better
If u just got your 30Hz TV, if I was you I would seriously consider taking it back for refund. -
Not true Arty
I am currently running a setup at 30 Hz (for testing purposes on HDMI) as well with BMS 4.33 (with the bit Darkman posted) and I don’t see any difference at all
No more FPS loss than I had at 60? No more tearing, no issues at all
So I don’t see a reason yet why it shouldn’t coexistBtw, the 30Hz is certainly a connexion issue
If I connect my screen with DP or DVI, I get higher refresh rate
It’s only when I try HDMI that it runs at 30HzSo if that’s a problem for you then try another means of connecting your monitor.
IMHO HDMI should only be used in last resort because of its many limitation -
Apparently the newer HDMI 2.0 will carry enough data for 4k monitors @ 60Hz.
But both monitor and GPU output must be compliant.
I personally passed on the 4k Philips for a AOC 32" 2560x1440, its about the limit of the HD 7950 I still need to get a year or two out of.And most of my flying is between 25<45 FPS , my first person shooter days are long gone.

The 40" Philips is 60Hz if you use DisplayPort input, as Red Dog said, but you still have to enable it in the settings, as it’s set as 30Hz by default.
-
Well Mr Turner cant seem to get it together, all I can think of is He is using the HDMI out on His GTX 580s
Or the GTX 580 will not do above 2560x1440,
Looking back he seems to be running 970s now.
-
Red Dog I know 30fps are OK, I am there, but paying a mountain of money for top notch tech, and I’m not talking about the monitor only, to hold me on 30… Well…
Sounds like buy a Ferrari to go to work every day, on a road with speed limit of 50, but so jammed that you can’t go above 10. -
30hz, no 30 fps
beside when i buy a ferrari, i am still limited to 50 km/h in the city mateand there is a slight difference between your post 36 and your post 31.
post #31 says no go, hence the need for a correction.
post #36 says it’s stupid to do which is for anyone to decide if it’s worth or not -
So with 30hz what’s your fps?
The fps falcon says or the fps actually drawn? The difference between posts is to make it more sweet for u.
U say I retracted? And so?
U pay x.xxx amount of money but u actually enjoy a large screen. Sure if u say so is fluent, ok but it’s a bottleneck.
Why not go for 3xhd or 1920x1200 monitors which are above 60hz and take full advantage?
Sure the bezel is one reason or the one and only. Unless there is the w=>cable problem equation. -

Pic from Nvidia’s site on the GTX580
As for the 970’s, some have HDMI2.0 some don’t
I use the phillips 40" from DP and have no issue at 60hz. -
Sorry, let me clarify for everyone, I am using my new machine, (have not updated my sig) which as Shadow says, has 970’s in SLi. I also run P3dv3, DCS, and several car racing sims and they all work absolutely fine at the native resolution 3840 x 2160.
The highets res on offer in the GUI is 1920 x 1080, so it must be something to do with how Falcon reads what windows is telling it about my monitor. Windows is obviously telling all the other programs / sims the correct info….
I can also confirm I am NOT using either the HDMI ports or the HDMI cable, it’s a display port cable in the correct outlet.
Arty, I can run the other sims I describe at very high frame rates ( as you might imagine) with no problem, the monitor and PC / graphics card set up is very good for all my other sims…looks awesome…
which is why I am somewhat miffed at not being able to run Falcon…
