Sometimes, people act like children:???:children??? old ones r wrong children r inocent…
so acting like children is many times way better…
Still grown ups play all the time the game: mine is bigger…Would you gents PLEASE STOP IT.
I’m actually tired of having EVERY OTHER THREAD DERAILED by stuff like “your’re dumb”, “you’re wrong and stupid”, “man,it’s completely O/T but your grammar sucks, go to school”, “my product is better than yours”… and ppl who fall for that and start the argumentation cycle again and again and again.
I’m tired of it and I mean it. Every other thread… I’ll relief you two from forum duty for a week. Even if that means that YOU won’t thank me again.

Thanks!!!

I’m still having a few issues even after following all the installation instructions. I had no problems with the first three updates, this time I cannot get the '4.32_Update_4_Part_1&2’ to install into my data folder.
I think I’ve tried everything, does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

Be extra sure of the directory structure. Check that U4 installer didn’t create a new directory (under your selection). If need, copy the files from there to proper /data.

Copying to desktop then pasting to the data file worked like a charm; thank you!
-
… I did about that and then seperately copied the files to the /data folder. After that : it was a GO
I posted in the Tech section however, I realize I should have posted here sorry

Hello guys, It’s my first to install BMS.
I downloaded all required files in this forum(here), but now I’m stuck at step 8a installing BMS
I have followed every single step from the beginning until it stuck verifying the updates file, which means I have BMS 4.32 setup files and all 4 update EXEs downloaded and EXECUTED them into the correct folder, selected the correct installed directory of original F4, and chose the directory for installing BMS from scratch.
I took three screenshots to show where I am:
Now as you can see, none of those 4 updates or even the original vanilla BMS 4.32 just won’t show up in this dialogue.
PLEASE HELP!

it’s not necessary to install originally Falcon4, just point the installer to the exe on your CD drive for verfication.
-
if you’ve already installed originally Falcon4, don’t choose this directory for installing BMS files into it.
-
you have the old Falcon4 by “Microprose”, not Falcon4 “Allied Force”, … correct?
Cheers,

Stuck on the same step as the above, tried the torrent BMS and the full zip BMS mirror, neither worked.
Win8 x64, tried a few compatibility mode and also admin mode, none helped. Has the original Falcon 4 (not AF).
U1 to U2 executed into the path, tried different folder names (with and w/o the _ UNDERSCORE)Screen cap attached, please assist, thank you.

Turns out I have my Non-Unicode charset (Control Panel/Language/Advanced) set to a non-English language, so the setup program is giving me issue.
Once I set that to English (US) then I got through that screen. -
I would like to know where I can purchase Falcon 4.0 from and also is it downloadable
-
Not downloadable, no. eBay will have a copy or two come up every now and again.

One question: I reinstalled Falcon BMS due to reinstallation of Windows 7. But I took another approach: I started Falcon bms setup.exe and it automaticly detected that I had extracted / installed all 4 updates in the data folder and then I just clicked next and it all installed automatically. Can you do this?
I do however have these error logs in my user/logs folder:

don’t bother with those error logs.

Looks like ppl still get confused about how to install BMS 4.32 U4 correctly, hence I made some quick snapshots of the most important steps…
Edit: if you need even MORE details and screenshots, head over to SimHQ, they’ve got a pretty comprehensive guide there for you (thanks to -Ice for pointing it out to me):
http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3660698/Starting_with_Falcon_4_BMS_Upd#Post36606981) Have the 4.32 vanilla installer as well as all updates (U1/U2/U3/U4) and your original Microprose Falcon 4.0 CD/executable at hand. In my example, I’ve put the installers into T:\Downloads, and my drive I: holds the Falcon CD:
http://www.duncsdomain.com/falcon/images/setup1.png
2) Extract the main installer (Falcon_BMS_4.32_Setup.zip). After you’ve done that, go to the directory just to make sure that you actually have the Setup.exe and unrar.dll files and the data directory as expected. Take a note of the whole directory path (highlighted in blue in my example), as you will need that path for the update installers:
http://www.duncsdomain.com/falcon/images/setup2.png
3) Execute (don’t extract) the U1 installer (Falcon_BMS_4.32_Update_1.exe). After confirming the installations instructions, point the “destination folder” to the very same directory path where the Setup.exe of the main installer was, i.e. the path that has been highlighted in blue in the previous step:
http://www.duncsdomain.com/falcon/images/setup3.png
4) Repeat step 3 for the remaining update installers U2, U3 and U4.
5) After all installers have been executed, navigate to the installer data directory (the path highlighted in blue from step 2, plus “data”) and verify that all the following files are now in there:
http://www.duncsdomain.com/falcon/images/setup4.png
6) If all the files are there as described in step 5, you’re now good to execute the “Setup.exe” in the directory from step 2. Note: it does not matter whether you installed BMS 4.32 U4 from scratch, or whether you only executed U4 on an existing main+U1+U2+U3 setup directory. You HAVE to have all files in the data directory as described in step 5 in any case.
7a) If you install BMS 4.32 U4 from scratch, the setup program will now ask you where to install BMS. Pick a destination path as you wish, i.e. in my example T:\FalconBMS:
http://www.duncsdomain.com/falcon/images/setup5a.png
8a) After verifying the files, the setup will show you that you have nothing installed, but the main installer plus U1-U4 available for installation:
http://www.duncsdomain.com/falcon/images/setup6a.png
7b) If you install BMS 4.32 U4 on top of an existing BMS 4.32 U3 installation, the setup will pick up the existing BMS directory automatically:
http://www.duncsdomain.com/falcon/images/setup5b.png
8b) After verifying the files, the setup will show you that you have BMS 4.32 main plus U1-U3 installed, and U4 available for installation:
http://www.duncsdomain.com/falcon/images/setup6b.png
9) Click next, make sure all checkboxes are selected in the “choose what to install screen” (you can only select entries which have NOT been installed yet, and the main installer is always mandatory) and let the installer do its thing. That’s it!
Just wanted to say thank you for this post, and stay off the zero post list. I have been absent from Falcon 4.0 for may years and after trolling around on youtube and watching videos of your work. I can honeslty say I may be hooked again.
p.s. if you get hate mail from my GF just ignore it.
-
10) Last not least, for verification, fire up BMS, and check the version number on the lower right corner of the main screen. It should read “Falcon BMS 4.32.4 (x86) Build 11647”:
I just set up Falcon using the cumulative base + updates 1-5. Then I applied update 6, which appears to have gone ok according to the execution of the Setup utility (Update 6 noted as installed). Only problem is that the version number is still 5, instead of six, in the version number of the main screen. Falcon BMS 4.32.5 (x86) Build 11911. Can I assume that I have updated it to version 6 correctly even though the version number doesn’t agree with the main page version?
Thanks.
Rob

Anyone know where I can get the BMS 4.32 download. Seems all the sites are attached to advertising BS and no exe file
