Project X55 GERMANY (Mod)
-
Since it has space on the outside why don’t u put force sensors there with no springs and real stick movement?
There r some ideas at pistoleros mod for the cougar that can apply here. -
I am not a fan for force-sensors and non-moving sticks. (I fly not only BMS …i fly “everythng” so to speak).
But just out of curiosity…what exactly do you mean Arty?
-
Dude, you are really putting in work on this stick!! How’s this mod handling for you?? Looks like something I might be interested in doing.
-
First i had too strong srpings…then too light ones… now its amazing… the flying is incredible accurate in the feel… and i dont want to be the guy infront of my guns tbh
I always analyzed sticks in the past years (maybe too much lol)… understanding WHY they feel how they feel and why they perfom how they perform… after all those years i just
wanted to make my own thing finally (headaches included, but it was worth it). Well, after realising that the stock x55 was horrible infact… would have prefered not to mod anything. The only problem (if it is one) is if one pulls the stick and releases it, the stick will vibrate (swing) around the center as there is not mechanical stopping point for the same.
I already have an idea how to solve this…wip atm.The good part is the centering of the stick can be done mechanically (trimm wheels) AND with the new CALIBRATION feature of the new software, so even if the stick is not dead-on
center…once calibrated it will be including proper distributions of the bands in all directions.
It took me a second to get used to it (before x52pro) …now i see the benefits …The biggest difference i can tell in gunnery (especially IL-2) and in holding dead precise desired Gs in turns in the F-16.
-
So, any update on this?
-
Nope… last picture you see (above) is how i left it as it behaves excellent as is. What i like most about it is that, it is smooth around the “middle” and becomes “stiffer” the wider you pull it (due to the nature of springs). And the x-55 calibration software makes it a “click-play” to center everything dead-on.
The parts required for the mod (without labor) are about 150 eur total.
-
350 total when a worthog is 400? hmmm makes u wonder.
-
You wonder alot i noticed.
Warthog “sucks” imo. and i doubt it can do this:
-
Cougar can… there r posts in the forum with it long time ago… since they share the same stick then its the same thing… also saitek is using cougars software or I’m mistaken here?
-
Downlaod Foxy´s Joystick Analyzer or Joytester2.exe from google and try your own stick (both are graphic-supported joystick test programs).
(no its not using same software)

Hey A.S. In case you happen to create a more or less detailed instruction manual for this mod with all the needed parts, I’m up to buy it from you :D. A good idea might also be to sell the whole mod kit in a package and including man/h + shipping in the price.

Considering i pay 80EUR for the gimbal alone… and around 60-70 EUR for the rest only including delivery (parts, magnet, spring, cables, shafts, bolts, nuts etc etc) and as the tools are already in my possesion a PLUS+ fair price for the work or manhours it would cost you 250EUR.
Best solution would be to send me the bottom of the stick (don´t need the grip, which makes it more compact for the delivery package) and i mount (mod) it, calibrate it, test it and send it back to you. -
Nice A.S.
I will contact you once I have the Rhino in my hands.
-
If the shipping were not an issue, I would consider sending you mine as well A.S, but alas, the shipping each way would likely add another 150 euros to the cost of the mod.

No false promises made here. I still have to decide if i even want to do all that.
-
Finshed it quiete a while ago and i am using with 100% satisfaction. I love the precision on it and i love the customize-able tension-feel (pressure) aswell.
The whole evolution in a summery picture series:
Last but not least a response precision TEST:

So to clarify, the stick is now a “force sensing” stick and does not move?

Did you seriously ask that question after watching all the pictures ?

Yes, it counts midi-chlorinas instead. Did you read the thread?
-
Have you thought for a moment that sometimes these threads are really unclear?
I did read it. And still am confused.
