I did not changed anything in aii file as I can remeber even the date of last modification is different from core. Pri file has also different date but as I can remember I also did not touch or just barely. You can compare with original but even if you do it won’t explain all different ATO behavior because role score of squadron the single role value and general/AG squadron setting in campaign also count for mission generation.
-
molny, please point me to software/file where squadron role scores are specified.
What’s worrying’s that few people can read code, and there seem to be a fair bit of misconceptions about tasking scores. Is there in fact interest in documenting tasking, as per last public ATM “release”?
If memory serves it went over all possible enemy objectives/units/whatnots, assigning scores to them using a convoluted procedure. No pre-pruning of objectives involved.
If only the thing spat out some printfs about scores and individual weights applied.

What is called “pure role scores” by me is in the DB. Each squadron and flight - even ground units have them, but they are likely not using them - have them. Besides this you can schange a role value. With older F4B you can see a digit with newer you can see text. These are the most strongest factors as I can judge + sq. specialization* in campaign but rest of them also have effect on targeting any mission types. I cannot give you more detailed info.
It has very strong impact especially on SEAD. SEAD flights can be made with non ARM capable AC, and for the same sq. type this specialization is a very, very strong factor to determine between SEAD and CAS/BAI/Interdiction. I have no idea why.
Do you plan to change something in core DB or in a 3rd party theater?
-
molni,
I’m trying to get some intuition as to what affects the scores given to targets.
Lowered Pyonyang objective score by five. Now the thing fixates on some west-of-DMZ SEAD targets.
Launched “editor.exe” as included with BMS. Does that modify the DB (do not want!) or the actual theater?
If anything, I’d like to change scores as bundled with the campaign, without clobbering the db.
I’m modifying “strong dprk” save1 was it, to see whether able to make tasking work better.
Some people used triggers to mod objective scores (?) but I don’t like the idea, it makes the campaign less dynamic. Just preference.

I do not use the inbuit editor of BMS4 as long it is not necessary. I guess it opens the DB what the currently selected theater uses but I have never checked. Just simply open the DB does not modify as long as you do not change value and update.
Objective scores can be changed in campaign save files (*.cam) but I do not recommend to do this, it can screw the PAK map and has another effect. I rely on this area A.S stuff in my MOD. For different sq. behavior try the sq. speciality in *.cam files, role scores in DB + the mentioned singe value role for each sq. also in DB.

What are the tools’ names? Are they shareable?
The builtin editor has serious UI problems…
-
You can open the databse with F4Browse, the cam files can be edited with Tacedit but you have to specify first the location of database and came files in properties.

what UI problems?
Better to fix these than still to fiddle with old unsupported (faulty) tools.Cheers

Kronik promised me a finalized installer within days. I asked him a favor at a most unfortunate time. When I get the installer I can upload within one day with Release Notes and release video.
-
I got the final installer from Khronik. It seems to me OK. I finalize Saturday Release Notes, upload the release video you can enjoy it really soon. I will create a new thread for the full version.

Here it is Ladies and Gentlemen. This thred now can be given to past.

BikerApplying settings resets the layout, including the sort order, selection, scroll position in the window.
edit: Editing – that is, changing squadron’s role scores.

How should I use the AGM-45? I selected a Viper squadron block 42 IIRC with the AGM-45, but how should I use it? Should I launch it once the enemy SAM fired at me? Or once in range and getting painted launch it as a volley? Any idea?
Regarding SAMS in campaigns, should I try to kill any SAM near my area of operations? I got a SEAD flight but there’s no SAM in the designated target waypoints, should I actively search for any SAMS nearby and try to kill them?
