Korea '80s Theater - discussion

How should I use the AGM-45? I selected a Viper squadron block 42 IIRC with the AGM-45, but how should I use it? Should I launch it once the enemy SAM fired at me? Or once in range and getting painted launch it as a volley? Any idea?
Regarding SAMS in campaigns, should I try to kill any SAM near my area of operations? I got a SEAD flight but there’s no SAM in the designated target waypoints, should I actively search for any SAMS nearby and try to kill them?

Same way as you could do with AGM-88 without HTS pod.

Then I need to search tutorials for that.

Shrike can’t even be used for POS modes. It has to be HAS, aka the “anti-radar maverick.”

so far the Shrikes in Molnis campaign have worked out fairly well in that area.

I am terribly rusty with direct attack mode. I don’t quite understand how the symbols relate to real world orientation post-designate. One thing I did learn very quickly is to fire with steep angles. Slight graving angles will almost always miss and hit the ground some distance away. A dive or loft is best. And fire at least two per target. I got a direct hit and just a damage.

Yes, ARMs are not holy weapons now as well as older AGM-65 and other AGMs. Against big static or non armored units even old AGM-65B is good but for destroying armored and moving targets older AGM-65B is quite weak you need the '80s best AGM-65D or later G.
Against monving targets older ARMs are not too reliable but even without HTS the lock is much simplier then find the target comparing to your eyeball Mark I. or AGM-65 sensor but their accuracy is weaker then AGM-65s as was in RL. Just check the hit rate of El Dorady Canyon and AGM-65s in Desert Storm.
The AGM-65 is still over modeled in RL the resolution of even the AGM-65D was way to small for vehicle identification at bigger range. Check this video. You can see contact but getting VID by AGM-65 sensor is not possible…

Can someone explain how to use that mode please?

HAS mode is at the end of video, the link it is in the description.

Thanks a lot!

Regarding ARMs: Didn’t the HARM replace the Shrike rather early during the '80s? Also, how do the Shrikes fly? I recall putting either Shrikes or Standard ARMs into ITO a few months ago, and reviewing a TacView track I saw that it took off at around +6 Mach.

The core dat file for AGM-45 does not support this as I can remember and my dat files different. In my DB you can be sure that kinematic range is as limited as in RL.

Ah, ok.
When I try to use the JGME4BMS.exe I wind up with 001, 002, 003, 004, 005 and 006 File respectively in the BMS main directory and no theater installed. What am I doing wrong?
-
You have to extract the MOD package (directory) first that can be selected with JSGME if you have copied (exracted) into \BMS mods.
-
The issue I seem to have is that the File files are just in the zip file I downloaded them in, with no sub directory for JSGME to tell them where to go. Well, maybe that’s why. I don’t know.
Basically, when I downloaded the theater from the link in the first post, I got a zip file called molnibalage-Various Files-Core modul-2015014-3532, containing six files called -=KOREA '80S 30.11.14=- -THEATER (with SIM data!!!)-.zip.001, .002, etc. Should that have happened?
-
You can download 6 files, they can be unzipped with 7.zip. After extraction you will get the -=KOREA 80S 30.11.14=- -THEATER (with SIM data!!!)- directory which has be put into \BMS mods and JSGME will see the module. Process is same with rest of modules.
-
I tried redownloading it, and again I got a file named molnibalage-Core modul-2015015-12a8.zip. Only difference this time was that for some reason the folder in it was called Core module, but otherwise it did exactly the same thing as before.
I placed the folder in BMS mods, and when I ran it in JSGME I wound up with this again: http://i.imgur.com/e6pVaPE.png

On your image I can see the 6 downloaded files. All you need unzip them with 7zip and put the extraced dir into \BMS mods. If you put the 6 downloaded files into \BMS mods and unzip them in that dir. you do not need do anything JSGME will see the core MOD. Should I make a video about it?
-
Well, this is awkward, since you have uncovered that I’m a blithering idiot  There’s a tiny chance I thought that the folder containing the files was to be left the way it was, so I rather wound up running the folder containing the zip files through JSGME instead of running the zip files through it, since I missed that they were zip files I should extract. Silly me…
Thanks for the help, I think I’ll manage now.
Edit: I do have a question about the equipment available. I took a quick peak at the block 42s flown by the 2nd. Should HARMs, HTS, TGP and LGBs be available?
-
I cannot disable HTS pod even as I know it was not available in 1991. HARM and small qty. of LGB are available.
