Pilot model fo F-16
-
I’ve seen that tutorial but found it a bit confusing anyway.
When I tried to follow the instructions, after point 10/11, there was an additional screen which got me nowhere. -
I tried to add the legs this evening and finally succeed, but must have tried several times.
Maybe it would be a good idea to update the readme file (version for dummies) so that people like me, not exactly Mensa members, could do it at the first try.
I was a bit tired at the end, but the procedure which worked in my case was like this:1. !!!Create a backup of files (not folders) in: \Falcon BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects!!!
2. Put 8018.dds and 8019.dds files in \BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj
3. Open LOD Editor, then open \Falcon BMS\Data\Terrdata\Objects\KoreaObj.HDR
4. Enter ‘2’ in the box next to ‘normal’
5. Click on ‘normal’, then ‘1’ under “Edit”
6. Select Action Append/replace texture
7. Select 8018.dds
8. Select Action Append/replace texture
9. Select 8019.dds
10. Click on ‘Action’ replace model
11. Choose ‘onlylegs.lod’ from the archive.
12. When the LE changes appearance you can close it down.
13. Enjoy your new body!(I tried, but still no six pack. Please update the .dds files accordingly!)
Worked like a charm!

Hello! first i want to give thanks to harpoon for the great mod. I installed the legs as on the tutorial in the video, but the mod only works in the F 16 c BL 52. How can i instal it in the others F 16 blocks?

is there a way to uninstall this mod? i see it’s included in molni’s excellent theater, however i have no TIR so can’t see half my damn switches and it annoys the hell out of me.
there’s no uninstallation instructions anywhere i can find, including in the readme, and it seems difficult to roll back considering i have no idea what files are referenced in the vanilla install, just the ones i need to modify to get it to work.
i’d rather be a spooky ghost falcon pilot, please help.
alright, i’ve been ****ing around with it for a few hours (including a falcon reinstall) i have both 82s open now, and want to replace the pilot body one with the default #82 taken out of the default theater (which does not have pilot legs installed) problem is when i try to action ––> replace model (it makes sense that i should be able to save the ‘clean’ cockpit as a .lod, then use action —> replace model to simply swap one .lod for another?) however it throws the error “the length of the replacement .lod is less than or equal to the original. do you wish to continue?” if i do, it seems that the .lod in the molnitheater folder is altered, however when i load the game it causes an immediate CTD. should i try to “append” instead? wouldn’t that just stick them together causing some sort of bizarre frankenfalcon?
perhaps problems: maybe the pilot body is lod #82 and the cockpit is a different lod? in this case, i would have to delete #82 instead of replacing / appending it. is this the case?
is append / replace different than what i’m thinking?
is this terminally ****ed and impossible to fix?
why isn’t there an option in the damn installer grumble grumble, it would have saved me hours of frustration
further edit: uh, i guess even in molni’s theater that the #82 .lod does not have the pilot legs mod even installed, because i’m looking at a very different model once i replace the #82 with loaded.lod
so, which # .lod is the pilot legs mod coming from? is it block specific, and if so where can i find the # of the .lod it’s drawing the model from?

As far as I recall, PL_Harpoon designed it more-or-less together with his upgrade for the block 40.
Hence, ‘uninstalling’ should be done in reverse with his guidelines (see else in this quite long tread).
You have to have the ‘original’ files (incl all LOD stuff with locations) ready to do this… chances that you get this right are slim imho.
Without thorough knowledge of LODEditor, don’t do this.
Advice: fly another theater (e.g. online stuff) until you get TIR (freetrack?)
just my 2 cents.

alright, my suspicions were correct that it’s possible to swap the legged model for a legless model that apparently exists. i asked molni and he has a copy of the legless BLK42 pit for his theater as seen here:
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?20345-Korea-80s-Theater
if anyone is looking for the same thing looks like a pretty simple replace using LODeditor. thanks molni!

Looks like a great addon!
I’m having trouble installing it though.
LOD Editor crashes after pressing “1” under Edit (after going in to “Normal”).
Anyone know what might possibly be the issue? I know countless things could cause this kind of crash but I’m hoping it’s something common with an easy fix.
Using Windows 7 64-bit.
I’ve never used LOD Editor before.

Make sure you don’t click 100000 times on it while it’s working, takes some time
-
How can I uninstall the mod? Or do I have to deinstall BMS?
BTW, very nice mod
-
My Rig uses two monitors, one for the game and the other for the use of external views(4 TM Cougar MFDs),(1)Can this MOD be use with my kind of setup??..(2)What’s the Recommended Monitor/Game Resolution for this MOD???
My PC= HP Intel Core i5 650 (3.20GHZ) 8GB RAM WIN 7 64 BIT
w/ Nvidia GeForce GT 630 2GB Video Ram -
This is the only way it worked for me:
suggested that it only works for F-16 C BL 52…this is the a/c model that worked for me…Thank you PL Harpoon…P.S…But I successfully tested it with F-16 D BL 52!!!

Is it working with 4.3.3?
TIA

yeah this method is working but i would not recomment and wait until we get a better option in 4.33
why?
when you import the onlyleg.lod you replace the current lod which is part of the new 4.33 cockpit.
The current non legs cockpit has some fixes in the layout, overlay, allignment etc with instruments.revert to onlyleg.lod and you are importing a “OLD” 4.32 part of the cockpit.
if you look close in the movie you see that you are not only importing the kneeboards with legs. Its also importing some instruments and cockpitlayout from 4.32
your own choice -
Ah, yes, thanks for the advice!

I was just going to ask the same question, thanks!

So the question becomes: is a better such option coming?
I love the kneeboards in the pit.
