HOW TO INSTALL THE HOTAS COUGAR FIRMWARE / SOFTWARE ON WINDOWS 7, 64 BIT
-
oh no
No idea. Well, guess its up to the Wayback Machine!
http://web.archive.org/web/20140517050059/http://cubpilotshangar.net/
for future reference, any site which is dead, you can look up the internet archive to see if they were indexed. If so, then a copy of the site as it existed when it was archived will be saved online. The internet archive used to be known as the wayback machine.
As you may have guessed, web.archive.org is the site for the internet archive. Hope that helps you with any other dead sites, too.

does anyone have cub pilots information locally saved? Even with the internet archive, most is lostā¦

So Im only just now realising that the text on those pages was an imageā¦. just one more reason why images for text is horrible, horrible web designā¦

itās how the archiver website works. It makes a snapshot of the page. Even the first cougar page (that works) is actually an image

Right, but thats the way the page was coded, NOT the way that the site works. You can check any other site its archived.
Just so you know, making a snapshot and saving the picture of the page would require sooooo much more storage space than just saving the page source file.

Wellā¦ I hope someone has the installation information available now CubPilot is gone.
Letās try to get it all valid again here. Hereās what I can find and know:
-
Remove prior installation information for the Cougar throught the Control Panel and manually remove the HOTAS folder in ProgramFiles(X86)
-
Save a Restore Point before installing the Cougar drivers. When problems arise, perform the removal instructions above and than restore your windows installation to the previously made restore point.
-
Keep your cougar disconnected during driver install
-
Deactivate User Account Control
-
In UAC settings, move the ānotifyā slider all the way down to āneverā
-
Optionally: reboot PC
-
Download the Vista 64 bits driver here (2007_HCO_VISTA_64_RC1.exe):
http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=1&fid=3&pid=50&cid=1
ā----------------------------------------------------------------------
above comes from CubPilots first Cougar page, underneath is an educated google-guess- Install driver with admin rights in Vista SP2 compatibility mode
- Follow the instructions on the screen , with install completed you will now have to find and install a file called āSTTubeDevice203.dllā
- Look in your folder at location āC:\HOTAS\driversā and find āSTTubeDevice203.dllā file. Then copy and paste the āSTTubeDevice203.dllā file into āC:\Windows\SysWow64ā folder.

I never had to mess with that .dll before.

EDIT: Cubpilotās Cougar Tips
-
IF someone still have any problem with his Cougar try to connect it in a USB 2.0! And not in a USB 3.0.
-
Do you have the .pdf on the HS1 throttle modification? The filedropper.com site is not displaying the file.
-
The filedropper link is the same file that I am mirroring (linked in my post above). It doesnt have the HS1 info though.
-
Nope sorry, i have only the inffo the cougar setup
-
Using this method, I was able to install drivers and software on Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) ā¦
-
āWindows 10/ 8/ 7 - No drivers are required for this deviceā
āThis device is fully compliant with the āHuman Interface Deviceā (HID) specifications. By simply connecting your device to the computerās USB port, it will be installed automatically by Windows, ensuring you a perfect compatibility with any games and programs (such as T.A.R.G.E.T).āIs this true for W7/64?
-
For the Cougar? Not so for me, I had to install the Vista x64 drivers to get mine to work on W7.

Same for me. Windows Device Manager saw the data in and data out devices, but it was unable to install any drivers for it.

Hi All,
Just adding my two centsā¦
Iāve just installed Win 10 on a new build PC. Installed Saitek pedals and TrackIR ok. Also installed F4 and BMS (U2) no probs.
Then I got to the Cougarā¦tried using both 2004 and 2007 HCO drivers - no joy so far. I keep getting the āDevice not detectedā issue. Done the .dll thing and made sure to keep the Cougar unplugged whilst installing. Still, only just started and thereās a whole bunch of other things to try so Iāll let you know if I get success.
I susect that the problem may lie with Windows installing its own drivers whenever I plug my Cougar into the USB. Perhaps they are overwriting the HCO ones? We will seeā¦
