INTRODUCTION.

Hello to all fellow simmers and seasons greetings for XMas and the New Year. I joined BMS a few days ago, and thought it only polite to introduce myself.
This is my first note since joining so sorry that I have not written before this. Fact was that as soon as I downloaded your Falcon 4 update patches, and fired up the sim for the first time, I was returned to the euphoria of a similar Christmas period 16 years ago when Falcon 4 was first released. I purchased the boxed game then loaded it and was mesmerised regarding the quality and perceived exactness of the game in flight modelling through to campaigns, adaptability and graphical feeling of “being there” as I flew the sim and progressed through the various levels of training from the 30mm thick instruction/training manual. I had a great time with this sim on Windows 95/98 until I was forced to purchase a new computer a few years later when the old PC finally gave out its last wheeze. When I tried to load Falcon 4 onto the new PCs resident Windows XP, it wouldn’t work properly (I didn’t understand patches and all those things and never really went hunting, because there was a new kid on the block around that time, IL2 Sturmovik - Forgotten battles which captured my attention and interest. The manual found its way (along with the maps and quick reference guide) the way that all old boxed games do, finally coming to rest on a back shelf in my workroom and progressively gathered dust. The disk (750 Megabites!!!) landed up in redundant discs case (all pocketed and protected) which was itself put on top of my cupboard gathering more dust.
Then after 10 years in the barren wastelands I had an epiphany. Having been looking for sound barrier movies on You Tube I stumbled upon Chuck Yeagers combat readiness in one hour mentionoing your website and update and thought to myself No this couldn’t restore my old game back to that quality surely!. Understanding games and patches and PCs a little better now (after all I was a late starter on PC gaming in my early 50s, and slower than the youngsters around me in understanding the new computer generation technologies), I just had to give it a go, having a spare hour to kick around, I thought I would at least give it a try. I proceeded to blow the dust away from the disc storage bag, and recovered my old manual (still all as good as new) along with maps and quick reference, and the last few days have been indescribable. I had tried Falcon Allied force a few years ago, and whilst it was okay it never really recaptured the true quality - particularly if you wanted to analize and improve your flying along the way with the ACMI - nor did it provide the enriched documentation of its predecessor. My bedtime reading is once again devouring chapters in the manual and trying them out the following day.
To the Development Team at BMS – Know this, that you have made an old PC pilot very, very happy. I feel like Christmas has already come and gone.
Thank you Thank You and Thank you again for all of the hard work you have all put into once again making this one of the best flight sims around (and that includes those presently available such as DCS which come nowhere near the detailed superiority as you have produced in this revitalised Flight Simulation. I only hope that you all stick together for a while longer to see if it is possible to enhance and enrich this game still more with the addition of new Scenarios and imaginary conflicts.
I hope to become a regular contributor on this forum in the future, but for the moment please forgive me whilst I get back to flying again this evening. I think this all that this computer is going to be getting used for during the Christmas break. I will hopefully put in some more details about myself when I eventually become airsick, but for now, I am off flying once more, preparing myself for some decent “on-line flying and fighting” with some of you if this side of the community still exists and is active.
