AutoPilot Not Working - Among Other Things
-
Things were going fine in 4.33 U2. I was actually starting to get to be somewhat proficient (almost ready to turn the labels and invulnerability off) when the autopilot started to misbehave. I would move the attitude switch (right switch) down and the plane would increase pitch about 10 degrees before settling in on a constant attitude. The pitch (stick) control was also sluggish. Then the jdams would not drop or release. The problem seems to have gotten worse. Now I can not move the autopilot attitude switch down or up at all. This seems to only happen in the campaigns. I tried moving from the Korean to the Balkan campaign and back again and the same problem exists. The only change I made was putting the padlock on enhanced mode per the recommendation of a training video. I put it back to realistic and the problems persist. I hope all this makes sense. I hope the problem is because I accidentally moved some switch that should not have been moved. Thanks in advance.

center the switches, and the plane should fly responsively.
With the right hand switch down, the stick will feel sluggish, as you have effectively halved your input magnitude. You can override this with the paddle switch.
You can move the pitch switch up and down freely, but under slow speed conditions, the AP will disengage automatically. In the real jet, the switch is magnetically held, and with the AP disengaging, the switches will not stay out of the center position unless held there. In BMS, this is just seen as the switches not being movable - which they are, but they are just immediately moving back to center. Point being, if the AP would try to disengage itself automatically, then you wont be able to move the switch, is what it will look like.
Should have no effect on padlock. Should not be affected by padlock. FWIW, Id recommend leaving padlock off entirely, but thats a whole 'nother story.
