Please help game freezes

If this would happen to me I would run this overnight:
-
No no Shadow I didn’t mean you were at all, hope you didn’t think that.
We get a lot of kids on the other forum who throw volts at there gpu and then run stuff like that which kills them, they are what I meant by ‘idiots’
Wouldn’t you agree that he does need to check his bios version though and update if necessary? old bios’s can cause a lot of issues.

OK, I didn’t think you were being rude but I still had a valid point to get across & I do agree a bios update might be called for, but as He is “not to tech savvy” I think if he can first establish that the system is basically stable by running 3dMark which is a safe scalable benchmark program. And then eliminate some other variables before undertaking a bios update.
I do see Gigabyte do recommend a bios update for that CPU and also “Minimum Requirement: 1000W True Power PSU, AM3+ 990FX Motherboard”
It is a very hungry Chip, like I said earlier I hope the PSU He has is a well established brand. And @ 220w is going to need some very serious cooling solutions
An i5 might have been a better deal for some one not tech savvy.

Ok guys. I took the side panel off and ran the game to check if the fans were working. They all are except I’m not sure about the CPU fan. I played the game with it off and can’t get it to freeze now. Played two full three full missions and have had no problems. This is what I have for cooling
FAN: Asetek 550LC 120mm Liquid Cooling CPU Cooler - Extreme Cooling Performance (Single Standard 120MM Fan)
COOLANT: Standard Coolant
CS_FAN: Default case fans
POWERSUPPLY: 800 Watts - Standard 80 Plus Certified Power Supply -
I put the side panel on and played for 30 minutes then froze again. I have to make a unplanned trip tomorrow and will be gone for a few days. Thanks for all the help. You guys are great. Do you think it is overheating issue?
-
You could use coretemp to validate that http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
-
I think it might be.
But even then Magoozle might have a valid point about the Motherboards Bios (Basic Input Output System) needing a update.
And sometimes that can also help with power consumption/heat output.Latter, Shad

The Asetek AIO cooler is the standard one AMD ship with that cpu, seems a cheap air one wouldn’t cut it.
Let’s sort it without any mega benchies then
there are two types of UD3 board, rev 1/1.1 etc, and rev4 (which was specifically made for the higher TDP chips, with higher TDP the VRMs have to supply more power to the cpu causing heat.
pic1 is the rev 1, pic 2 is the rev4 for the new chips like your’s, notice the huge vrm cooler above the cpu socket and the heatpipe?

http://i.imgur.com/SFHAl2i.jpgIs it possible for you to run your game till it freezes and stick a finger on that heatsink? (it may be hot) just to ‘feel’ its heat, upto ~80c is okay but over that will cause lockups.
Also there will be a sticker on the side of your power supply, a pic of that would be epic so we can see the brand.
cheers

So I decided to start fresh and uninstall the game and reinstall it. Now it won’t let me install the game. Says something about missing registry. All I want is this game to work. Now I can’t even play it.

Never mind got it to work. Sorry. Just not good at this. This is starting to get embarrassing.
