CH Fighterstick with no pedals and throttle?

It’s a great stick, but eventually you’ll want to get the throttle for sure. I used CH for about 8+ years and really liked the stick.

Thanks Cali.

+1 on the stick. Curious about your desk though. The width I need is a keyboard +20cm (8 inches) left (throttle) and right (stick) of it. So that makes… more or less 80 cm (+/- 32") or so.
Maybe the hotas on your desk and the keyboard on your knees?Don’t bother with the rudder for now. Falcon doesn’t need one.

You are using the CH PRO Throttle? How is it working?
And isn’t the CH-Fighter-Stick a little too “soft”? (Too little resistence…) -
Hi Fluke,
I received your email to me with file attached. Thank you very much. Trying to tweak the screen resolution for best viewing at this time. So much to learn!

And isn’t the CH-Fighter-Stick a little too “soft”? (Too little resistence…)Actually, I am using the Logitech Extreme 3d. Just a left over from when I tried Falcon 4.0 more than ten years ago. I don’t care for it. I really don’t know which joystick is best suited for BMS. From reading I thought the Fighterstick would be good for the price. I haven’t looked at the CH Pro line yet. Again, I am just looking at the stick for now, the throttle maybe later.
Thanks. -
Lol, well, I PM’ed you, but maybe there’s other new guys reading this.
Starting out with a simple stick is just fine. Somehwere in the €40-50 price range is more than enough. Think Logitech Extreme 3d Pro, Thrustmaster T16000 etc.
In general, you’ll want a throttle slider, as many hats as possible and a good handfull of buttons. Ofcourse the fighterstick is pretty darn good. But it largely depends on what it wil cost you. Where I’m from, a new one is the same price as a new Saitek X52 Pro. Exit fighterstick, in that case (money/functionality wise, not talking about build quality, but the Saitek seems just fine over all these years).Next step will be a HOTAS, and 2nd hand is a good option. You can either go as cheap as possible and hunt down said Saitek set (got my X52 Pro second hand for… eh €80 I believe), or spend more for a better one (usually €150 - ish for an unmodded cougar, X65F etc.). After that you’ll start getting wishes… lol.

The fighterstick usb has 18cm of movement if you measure travel from the nose in most foreward to most aft position, or roughly 8". There is VERY LITTLE resistance in the stick movement. It does come with CH’s software so you can tweak it, but I don’t know how you’d adjust the stick travel to the slim margin the “real” F-16 stick has. Does it have the paddle switch that the Cougar does? No. Do you need it though? Not right off the bat. I still have mine using the trim hat to pan the cockpit. The real question that should be asked though is: Is this the only flight sim. I’m using? Learning to fly the jet is priority, then worry about a better stick & head tracking. Then worry about pedals. They’ll only help you on the ground, and there is an ongoing debate elsewhere about whether to use them in flight or not. The only button you should worry about is the gun trigger and where it’s located. I WISH the fighterstick came with the 2 detent trigger, but it doesn’t. My only real complaint about it.
Sorry if I’m ranting again guys.

And isn’t the CH-Fighter-Stick a little too “soft”? (Too little resistence…)Hi there,
Been away from the sim and forum for awhile, so slow to respond. Presently I am using the Logitech Extreme 3D which I do not care for. Too stiff and yaw axis too sensitive. Haven’t yet figured out out to disable yaw and just use the keyboard. -
Hi Fluke. Sorry to be slow in responding. Been out flying the real stuff. Thanks as always for your input. You have been very helpful. Anyway after much perusing I have ordered a new CH Fighterstick with a new CH Pro Throttle on back order. I hope it all works out.
