Burner's Harpoon MOD Pilot Legs Tutorials

If you put the dds files right into the Korea.obj folder, then you can skip step 10 and 11. (As an added note, you can select more than one .dds file at a time)
Perhaps an easier way to do the same:
1. !!!Create a backup of files (not folders) in: \Falcon BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects!!!
2. Put 8018.dds and 8019.dds files in \BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj
3. Open LOD Editor, enter ‘2’ in the box next to ‘normal’
4. Click on ‘normal.’ Then above the ‘LOD Indexes’ box, click ‘Edit Mode’ once and it should change to ‘Replace Mode’
5. Click on ‘1’ then select ‘onlylegs.lod’ from the archive.
6. When the LE changes appearance you can close it down.

Thx Terminator and Pumpyhead… Will try again when I get home. I had only copied the dll files to the System 32 folder so maybe an issue there.
-
Using Pumpyhead’s routine above worked as far as getting the 3d Viewer in LOD to show the new legs/kneepads, however, when I run Falcon now the program crashes as soon as I try to load up a TE. If I switch theatre, then everythings fine e.g. Israel, but I now can’t get Korea to work at all. Even trying to play an ACMI file in Korea crashes it.
Someone please help!
(And no, I didn’t back up the Objects folder - I mistakenly only backed up the KoreaObj folder)
-
I didn’t try Pumpyhead’s routine but know for sure the original method works as long as you click the “ok” button in the “select lod” pop-up. So don’t select LOD no. 82, just click ‘ok’ in the pop-up dialog box. Maybe if you try the original method it restores the fault……
I don’t know a lot about LOD editor but mayby Pumpyhead can clear things up:
If you put the dds files right into the Korea.obj folder, then you can skip step 10 and 11
I don’t understand this because step 2 of the Original method is:
2. Put 8018.dds and 8019.dds files in \BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj\
I can’t see the difference so why not perform the steps “Append/replace texture” for both dds files. to add them.

Might have totally porked things by now, but when I get to clicking on 1 under Edit, I’ve got 7318 in the box. If I put in 82 and click OK, then it says that the model can’t be loaded. If I leave 7318 and click OK, then I can finish the routine, and the legs/kneepads show up in the 3D Viewer OK, but the game crashes if I stay in Korea.
Anyone got a copy of the Korea Objects folder they could post up (without KoreaObj folder)?
-
Got a copy from a squad-mate and tried again - this time it works! (Had to change the Select LOD box to 82).
-
Finally got it to work. Don’t do step 9

Leaves me a bit confused but……
Finally got it to work. Don’t do step 9
Great!!! :woohoo:

One of LodEditor’s original functions with append/replace texture was to be able to ADD a texture as well as convert a .bmp to .dds. If you simply replace an existing texture by putting it in the BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj\ folder, then there is no need to append/replace.
-
This is easier and works like a charm, cheers dude.

So if i understand you correctly also in the original routine there’s no need for the append/replace steps ?
Anyway, looking at all the install problems, I hope your “installation instructions” makes it a lot easier for a lot of people

client mods such as the legs mod, does not affect multiplayer. One user can have them, another can not, and you can fly together.

Correct: not MP critical.

Correct. Use append/replace if there is no existing texture number or if you are converting .bmp to .dds. Of course, there is no harm in using append/replace, but to me it is easier to just copy the .dds files into the \objects folder.

Hey, I appreciate that you are trying to help others as well. Cheers.

Justice,
From what I have been told you will not be able to. I also do not have TrackIR and that is why I will not be installing them until I do. Real pity there though.
That is unless someone is giving away the latest ones free with the headset piece???!!!:)
