Curiosity Poll - How much did you spent for HOTAS (stick and thruttle)
-
-
I’m single. Just me and the dog, so I can spend anything I want. The problem is I always want more than the money I have. Social Security only goes so far.
-
HOTAS WARTHOG: 39,000JPN (approximately ATM)
HOTAS COUGAR(JUNK): 3,000JPN (approximately)
TUSBA R1: 4,827JPNTOTAL: 46827JPN
It is about 421USD for today’s rate.
If I include my rudder pedal…MFG CROSSWIND V2: 43,772 JPN
TOTAL: 90,599JPN(about 816 USD)
-
about 120-130 euro for saitek x52
not counting:
a broken TIR3w/trackclip pro
and later a logitech g27(250euros) that serves as rudder peddals when not racing… -
@Stevie
Well $22K is all you remember I bet. Ive always assumed that the full 1:1 cockpit boys are putting over $50k in those, not to mention the cost of a room and 1000s of hours of finding parts/planning/building/testing and then some flying. How many of these guys are married for long? These viperpit widows deserve a real medal and much more. That would be more than my wife with 2 kids (one in college) in expensive California could afford.
…sounds reasonable. And yeah, I’m single…I do have a number of female fans of my project though, all young engineers. So I guess I’m a mentor/instigator.
-
So, majority spent for ONE (or the last HOTAS) they used now over 500$, which means majority has some kind of FSSB mod.
That is hart to believe, considering we hosted Falcon-Online - with over 4500 members, many of which i got to speak with in the sign-up process for events on TS i.e - and i can´t recall so many having 500$+ sticks
But interesting Poll …and thanks to everyone for participating.

You can spend over $500 for a Warthog now if you don’t shop around.

I can see it now…
Heya sweet young thang, wanna checkout my new cockpit?

Well im sure the > $500 category includes not only the force users, but those that interpreted it as a cumulative value over time perhaps?
Still TM Force users easily spend:
Cougar or Warthog: $350-450
Fssb-R1 or FCC3: $350
Other HS mods to TQS: $100
Rudders: $100-$600 (RCS to Slaw or Crosswind or Simped) -

…you’d be surprised. I certainly am.

If you do shop around you can still get Saitek Combat Pro rudder pedals…but you have to be REALLY desperate…

My favorite online seller sells the TM WH for £307 which may seem expensive…. but my argument is that it is only expensive if you buy it as a fancy-looking paperweight.
-
It’s pretty easy to go over $500 if you include rudder pedals and Trackir. Which the majority have.
-
I’ve spent way over 500$ with my old and new rig combined.
If a person want to desperately budget cannot spent less than 100$ including some sort of headtrack system, hotas and pedals (you may actually skip pedals for bms, not really fundamental)
-
…any setup without pedals isn’t really a “complete” setup.

True but in the case of the F-16, it’s pretty low on the priority list. Definitely AFTER the TrackIR if funds are tight.
-
Do you use the pedals for anything but taxi? I haven’t found a need yet for any maneuvers i’ve done.
Especially, compared to a WW2 bird. I think pedals get the most use with them.
-
I’ve seen great pedal use during a guns-only dogfight against a human opponent… in most other cases, you won’t need it as the FLCS sorts that out for you. I’ve used my pedals more in Elite Dangerous…

That’s exactly what I’m talking about…if you’re at low speed and you’re not on the rudders, you ain’t in the fight!
