Seems quite expensive for “props”… still I think my son spotted a few WT sticks in “The Expanse” (awesome series on netflix btw) a few days ago.
Cheers, Uwe

Yeah, they’re often in scfi schows. The Expanse is great. Just watched series 2 finale today, going to be a long wait for series 3!!

There was a F16 simulator business here in LA for a short time but it failed. This might be some of the remaining parts from the cockpits.
The BIN price of $5000 for 4-FSSB, 2-stock Cougar sets and 1-Warthog set, all used and who knows what condition is a bit steep imho. At best they are worth 1/2 price, less if in poor nick. So thats:
4x FSSB Cougar $800 (x0.5) = $1600
2x Stock Cougar $400 (x0.5) = $400
1x Stock WHog $400 (x0.5) = $200
–--------------------------------------
Sum = $2200 (assuming all functional which is less unlikely for the TQS)
Essentially the BIN price is full retail for new. His starting price is fair if all worked fine.ya, ive seen the TM gear in a few movies too. Like: Independence Day, Mars, and a recent one about flying drones

I’ve seen HOTAS Warthogs in movies…when a movie has a multiple million $$$ budget, these things cost nothing…
…but more to the point, I’ve seen a LOT of HOTAS Cougars in use on military installations. They are being slowly replaced by HOTAS Warthogs…and I know I have a couple Cougar throttles off Ebay that are military surplus.

Yeah… pass.

I wouldn’t buy it. I’ve been watching this guy repeatedly post this auction up for a few weeks now. The first time he set it to $0.99 and it sold for $5.50. He cancelled the auction after the fact: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thrustmaster-Hotas-cougar-F16-the-original-/222622093430?hash=item33d54f9076:g:xwcAAOSwGNdZncTc
He then tried to post it for $0.99 with a reserve, but it wasn’t met: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thrustmaster-Hotas-cougar-F16-the-original-one-with-the-realsimulator-upgrade-/222625893986?hash=item33d5898e62:g:wQgAAOSwh5hZovmG
And now he’s got it listed for a starting bid of $2,500 and a BIN price of $5,000: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thrustmaster-Hotas-cougar-F16-the-original-some-with-the-realsimulator-upgrade-/222651525502?hash=item33d710a97e:g:xwcAAOSwGNdZncTc
I don’t understand why he doesn’t just sell each stick individually. Nobody’s going to want 6 sticks, 5 throttles, and a Hotas Warthog set all at once, especially when the description’s just a vague “most work, some might need extra parts” that doesn’t explain what you’re actually getting.

Exactly. A friend and I were thinking about buying the lot and selling them on after checking and fixing them, but it’s too risky. The seller’s reply said he had an F-16 sim shop and that most work fine. He values it at $5k, which puts them at $500 each (I count 10 HOTAS in the pictures). Even with some of them having FSSB, it’s still too high. I reckon the starting bid of $2000 for all is a better price for them all, and that would be assuming they all work, even with spikey pots etc.
Then there’s the problem of postage and customs…

@Ranma13, how do you know that the sale was cancelled or that the reserve bid was not met?
I do agree that for the lot, I wouldn’t buy it for more than $2,000 since even he doesn’t really know the condition of each item. Why sell as a lot? I suspect so that he can get rid of the bad ones amongst the good ones. It’s plain to see that he could have much better luck selling individually and if he does have an “F-16 sim shop,” then he knows this for sure. This doesn’t pass the smell test.

I’m happy with a Warthog I paid $400 for.
This guy is nuts!

@Ranma13, how do you know that the sale was cancelled or that the reserve bid was not met?
You can see it in the auctions I linked. The pictures for the first and third auctions are exactly the same, and if you view the original listing for the 2nd one you can see that the reserve wasn’t met. He also re-listed the same auction again a 4th time today:
Except it now starts at $1,999 instead of $2,500 (the $2,500 one got no bids). He most likely used eBay’s “item is no longer available after auction end” feature to cancel the item when the very first auction was won at only $5.50. It’s there for legitimate reasons (I’ve had to cancel an auction once when I accidentally dropped the item while moving it to my car), but people abuse it like this if they don’t get the price they want. The first auction was also a 24-hour auction, and the rest are 3-day auctions, which makes me think that he’s desperate to get rid of them all (to pay off debts maybe?).

Did you see the TM F-16 FLCS, TQS, and gameport rudder package for $299.99 too?

Yes I have, but that’s the older gameport version and needs an adapter to work over USB. The joystick and throttle shouldn’t cost more than $70-100. The pedals are rarer, but they’re not worth an extra $200.

Thanks Ranma!
