Cannot load logbook to reinstall of 4.33 U3
-
This morning I had a blank out of my monitor while in Falcon planning a mission and had to power down.
Powered back up and safe started w/o network hookup then shut down.
From then on Falcon would not start.
Saved off USER/KOREAOBJ/SQUADRON DOC and SAVE file and uninstalled.
Reinstalled to U3 and tested its running ok now I am slowly installing the files I’d saved off to see if anyone of them will cause it to crash.
I’ve copied over my logbook and in the logbook function I can select my name but it will not load.Yes, should have backed it up, but I’ve never had this issue in the past.
Anyone else experience it and have a solution? Thanks

Hi, unfortunately shit happens: the logbook is kept open by Falcon at all times, so a dirty shutdown can cause corruption.
I’d suggest to not waste time and get it back from your backups (hoping that “should have backed it up” means you have it somewhere, the other possible interpretation is bad news :-(). -
you said the right thing there BlueRaven,
A good while back, while surfing the net, I had a hard power outage shutdown. I mean it slammed my system hard. I thought, uh oh this aint good. I was worried it’d even boot but it did. So at the desktop I started looking around to see if
there’s damage to anything. Tested some executables and after a while I couldn’t believe my luck was so good that everything was ok. So I now have to test falcon too, so I get in and I’m in just fine. I go to commit and find out I’m now ‘Viper’.
That’s fine, I know how to change that, I bump out to do it and my logbook file is missing. I mean it’s just gone!!! Out of the config directory and nowhere to be found. WTF….?
That was all that got hit. I ain’t believing that… I wasn’t flying when power dropped. I could understand corrupted, but just GONE??? I must’ve made the Falcon gods angry somehow.
I do better at keeping a copy now a days, in case I piss em off again, accidentally…yeah. But to perhaps help you out, perhaps, if you’re connected to monitor via hdmi and the video drops, you maybe can unplug and replug the cable and it’ll be back on, without powering down. Works for me from time to time.

@Axe:
I must’ve made the Falcon gods angry somehow.
Well, that’s what happens when you take a break. The gods expect unbroken servitude.
What’s up Axe old bean. Your story about your logbook is strange indeed. You flying again?

hey ole bud! I am guilty as charged. and deserve the punishment…
I’m not sure I can call what i do flying…… lol, but i’m training (mav’s)and doing a little camp work.
Hey, I had an idea the other day that might interest you. I made a campaign (priorities, PAK’s adjusted, mostly) and call it ‘Operation Legacy Spirit’
KTO, Iron Fortress, only manage 2 F16 squads and Awacs. Kunsan and Pohang.
In a nutshell, I only go after the stuff that don’t matter. CCC, Army, Logistics, Infrastructure, war production, infrastructure, and Naval which is where my current love to take out is.
It’s got that ole school CCIP feeling going. It’s made for the near-burnout Falcon pilot who wants to remember from where he started.
Seems to fit me pretty ok -
I like it, dedicated strategic strike squadrons (err, SSS’s?) We are stirring a bit over at SimHQ, and will probably get some MP going in the near future. Pop on in.
-
D, I came over here just now to contact you and see if you’d like to get one of these campaigns going.
I was shocked at how well the campaign ran once I took that huge burden off of all the other squads. They really take care of business.
I’ll check in and see what you and I can arrange. Hey, SSS’s cool.–-------------------------------------------------------
Dukera, sorry for the temp derail. back to business… I really think your log is a done deal. No way to fix it.
edit: I’m not familiar with using this method: Saved off USER/KOREAOBJ/SQUADRON DOC and SAVE file and uninstalled.
I just pull the logbook or the entire user>config folder. If you want, I’ll test your logbook in my install to see if it’s just a logbook problem.
you can send it to me private mail I guess. I’ll check it right away if you like. -
Not to derail the thread any more, but I’ve been doing the same thing, both offline and online. Disable strategic strikes for the ATO. Myself and the guys I fly with love dropping Mark Eight Fours on these targets. And yes, let’s do it. I’ll send you a PM.
