Bug - engine start issue
-
BMS version 4.24.0 (x64) build 19631
Win 10 Pro
TM WH throttle
VPC WarBRD stick base with TM WH stick
No TARGET profile, all control via key fileProblem
- When setup of throttle is 0-100%, startup of jet with idle cutoff, FTIT needle starts moving with 10% RPM, engine fire light on by time 20-30% RPM.
- When setup of throttle is 10-100% (deadzone present), startup of jet with idle cutoff, RPM go to 25% and stay at 25%, FTIT needle never move. Put throttle out of cutoff and out of deadzone, RPM go up, FTIT go up, engine start up as normal. Problem now is when throttle is in idle position, it is inside deadzone and engine die slowly.
Test startup procedure
- Close canopy
- Cycle throttle, then put in idle cutoff position
- Elec switch to BATT, Fuel knob NORM, Air Source knob NORM
- JFS 2, wait and observe

Here is picture of with and without deadzone

Tried same hardware setup, same startup steps, throttle 0-100% (no deadzone) in BMS 4.33 U5 and jet start up no problem.

No bug
It seems you don’t understand what idle detent means
If you don’t have a physical detent to prevent your throttle to pass the detent when idle then Don’t use analog idle detent.
The detent is the point where fuel is injected
Below no fuel
Above fuelSo if you are above when engine start below 20%rpm => hot start
If you are below when engine has started => engine will shut downAs it seems you don’t have a physical detent to prevent passing back the detent in flight
Unset analog detent in the setup -
Just to add info here.
There is a detent (hump, whatever you want to call it) on the WH throttle, but below it is not part of the axis. The axis is at zero at the idle stop point.
As JP said, if you want to use the WH throttle, you need to not use the idle detent feature as your physical idle position on the stick will be below the idle cutoff in game. You either need to use the alt-I idle detent function by keyboard, or if you are so inclined, you can map the command to the release of “off” throttle buttons that are actuated when the WH throttle is moved from the ‘off’ to ‘idle’ position.

Thank you for response. I understand fine for idle detent, just cannot get it to work as properly in game, but is now sorted out thanks to help from awesome forum community!
