Getting My New Warthog Today…question
-
I’m leaving CH products behind and getting a WH HOTAS today. I notice there are many profiles out there, but I’m looking for one that replicates the actual F-16 stick/throttle the closest. Any recommendations?
EDIT: It looks like Morphine’s profile may fit the bill. Question, I know that Gastone is updating it now, but where is the thread (or in what page of this one)?

I’m not using TARGET to avoid any unnecessary extra crud on my system and simply use the the WT as two separate DX devices.
You can use the included key file editor by Kolbe to create a pretty good default layout in this case.
All the best, Uwe

I’d also like to point out its not that hard to create your own DX profile for the hog using Falcons setup/ controller page and then finish the throttle body of with a Target profile.

Morphine’s is certainly the right approach. What’s exactly best is subjective to you. I think my layout is the best but of course I do and I’m sure it’s far from a unanimous opinion. I recommend taking a good long look at the F-16 HOTAS picture and your WH controllers and synthesize how A maps onto B. Naturally you’ll want to have a few non-HOTAS controls on the WH as well like landing gear handle. Prioritize controls that are accessed commonly and in times of stress. If at all possible avoid shift layers. Air combat is already 4-dimensional chess. Don’t let a super complicated control scheme make it 5-d.
As time goes on you can easily modify a given profile for small changes. It’s far less challenging to implement a small edit than start from scratch.
