F/A-18 Engine always dies
-
Hi. I have a problem where, when I rampstart the F/A-18, my engines will randomly flame out during flight. It mostly happens when I nose up slightly when using cruise power. I can see the throttles instantly snap back to the idle cut off position and the engines go out. I restart them mid air, and it will just keep happening.
I do not have a cutoff detent set in the options, and I am quite sure I’m doing the startup correctly. I don’t have this problem in any other plane.
Has anyone had this problem or does anyone know why it’s happening? I appreciate any help -
You should be able to move your throttle to idle without cutting the engine.
Just to double check, you do have fuel flow set to NORM during the ramp start?
It almost sounds as if there’s a rogue Idle Detent command (ALT-I by default) being sent. What HOTAS/keyfile software are you using? Is Idle Detent programmed on the HOTAS at all?

where is the fuel flow switch? and about the hotas, i’m using a ch pro throttle without idle detent programmed in BMS. I do have an AB detent set though
Also, I should clarify, I can move the throttle to idle without it cutting out. Sometimes the engines will just die in flight for no apparent reason, and my throttle moves back to idle. it may not even be a throttle problem, and it’s just playing the animation since the engines are off

belay that, the problem was the fuel flow button on the IFEI (like agave_blue said). Hope this helps anyone else who might have this problem.
