Light in a HAS, possible?
-
Hi,
some light in the HAS, that would be wonderful, so my idea. But is it possible, and if, how?
PT nodes are not a choice in that case…Best regards
Earlybite -
Yes possible. The same way the lights work for airport parking area. Those super tall ones.
I have a link for those in my hotlist. Eghi and Lazystone have the answer how it works but their photos doesn’t display. If u open the model in the Lodeditor I believe u will get it.
Sorry not on a PC right now.

I’ll try my best and I hope this will cover everything and will be a good reference for others:
Look at CT 3662 Street Light.
Needs a switch which must be of value 1 by default as u see it in LodEditor.
U must have a circle or point or polygon of type PT value 0 (zero) this must be nested-linked in the switch, and must have a close to white or what u want color declaration. This actually works like the source of light.
U must have a polygon of ptype 16 that will be the area that light will reflect or the area that will be lighted and it must be nested-linked in the same switch as the previous.
This polygon must have a center and a border.
The center vertex - vector must be where the center of the light beam must be, where more light will be projected, the edges-border will be the darkest to total dark area, in LE going from light (center of polygon) to dark so edges-border must have different property.
You can place the center of the polygon where you want or where you think the most lighted area should be.
The property that must be changed is on the vertex - vector named in LE and it’s the color declaration.
So let’s say white for the center and black for all the border vertex - vectors.
Also setting a Zbias for the polygon with a value of 0.020 to have the polygon on top of the 3d object that will be underneath. The code then makes a smooth transition from lighted to dark as u see in the pictures.
In this example the border is pure white and the center is a bit darker. In other lights like red I see the red in the center and black in the border.
I don’t know maybe it’s kinda of a flood effect declaring white on the edge?
Needs more investigation, or clarification from the dev’s.Mortesil if u r reading this would need a functionality like select the polygon, then select color for center point and color for border points and select the ptype for the whole thing to make it 16 for example. else as now we must do it one by one.

I asked this question before - Arty your answer has persuaded me to wait until it is built into a future release ;0)

@Earlybite just in case u don’t see the polygon where the light is reflected ( the lighted area) in LodEditor, set the view in top view and zooooooooooom out. u will see the polygon.

No worries, already saw it.
Yesterday I tried with PT nodes, but this not a real good idea… Not alone that a PT node do not shine (throws no light), more because the PT point is shining through the model, even it is inside. It looked very funny…
I’m just trying to build one HAS with light…
BTW: The idea is, that you can make a ramp start inside a HAS at night and see, what is in the cockpit before the engine is runnning, that is clear, yes? -
Well that’s the idea. Don’t know if what I described will provide lighting inside the pit but it does on other features and the external view of airplane iirc. Since you have a hangar ready it’s easier to test it.

Hi,
made some tests….
Hm, not really good, because that the PT node shines through the rest of the model.
I even set the line (which gets that PT node) free in the air…
When you look direct from above of that HAS, it shines through the roof.
I think, HAS and direct light is no good idea…Even when you place ‘Street Light’ direct into a greater building under circumstances it shines through…
Maybe there is another way, e.g. with textures. like lights at/in the a/c…

Textures don’t emit light.
Put the light source under the roof.I’m not very sure but it might not work after all cause of this. There must be and a post - reply from someone that tested it or Dev. Not very sure.
Something like it’s not like the sun light that creates shadows and this way the light passes through other objects.Your light source is a sphere? If u make it a polygon facing downwards to the ground and set each vertex as pt?
