An/apg-68 slaved to loral and litton in counter fire mode possible in bms?
-
was reading about the loral and litton systems using the ground radar to track active emissions, in other words search radars. basically the RWR will tell the fcr and the tgp where to look, and then the pilot can refine the target opportunity. This isn’t classified I read it in a book I got at the library and I couldn’t find it in the flight manual. 3-4 weeks? it would be cool!

or…
can you slave the HAD to the TGP and FCR, which would allow some functions of an emissions sniffing search and track?
-
I think that is “beacon” mode in the FCR.
That mode is very useful in real world but maybe difficult to simulate in the game. -
Yea from my reading this is the main procedure of sniffing and silencing AAA you hadnt pre planned or recce’d. From what I can tell from reading , it’s a button on the LORAL similar to the hand off , simply tells the fcr to look where the threat diamond is emitting from.

I’m going to scan in the documents I have been able to get regarding this feature, and I’ll post them here.
-
Beacon mode is a ‘legacy’ mode (basically never used to my knowledge) that allows the AG FCR to locate/track a beacon of interest. It has nothing to do with the RWR.
The RWR cannot be slaved to any A-G modes of the radar. The RWR also does not geo-locate. It uses signal strength and bearing. It’s not a great device for locating threats.

“the LORAL an/apg-68m allows the war fighter to detect and engage ground threats and emission sources.”
-BAEwhat are they talking about?
