Gza Stock Korea database CM block 42 has the normal Lantirn or Litening or whatever the model is i cant remember exactly right now.CM Block 40 has the sniper as CM Block 52 as well the 52 you showing here is a Korean 52

Those pods are part of the model and there is a switch that makes them visible or not. Changing the dat file is half the solution, the other half is modify the model.

@Manos The block 40 should definitely have the Lantirn pod… it is meant use FLIR

https://i.imgur.com/SsQ10Vx.jpgThe switch is embeded in the model when its creator was exporting it, as dofs and slots etc. Thats why i said maybe change BLK 42 and BLK 40 models between them with LE, Once the model is exported you cannot really change a lot. LOD format is an 1-way almost ticket…

It is part of the model and its “switched” meaning : the code gsa036 earlier gave us on the dat file it just to turn on or off the s switch, its not a matter of hardpoint, By using this code on the dat file you have visible or not this part of the model, when u need it the code of the game makes it visible when u not its hidden. As said above if its is wrong and 42 has to have sniper and 40 the lantirn (Both have wide HUD) or both need to have Lantirn then the solution i either get the 42 and use it as a 40 and 40 as a 42 or use in both ct numbers the 42 model. Therefore bare in mind that 40 has a GE engine and 42 has a PW witch model wise is a diference.
EDIT: did some research, many combat wings & Squadrons replaced Lantirn with the Sniper as it considered in some aspects 4 times better than the Lantirn, even some F-15E’s combat wings/squadrons started to using them, so (if im wrong some of the devs can correct me) because the BMS team always try to have into the database the “latest” updated version of each plane thats why BLK 40 has the sniper and for the nostalgic people probably kept the Lantirn in the 42’s. Also consider the TO weignt its less when using the sniper as u use onlly 1 pod and not 2 as the lantirn, plus you have the advantage of asymetrical load out and use HTS as well and drop in one of the wing pylons an Harm missile. SO in a thread of a forum i just read says that Sniper is the Lantirn replacement as it carries the latest and more advanced FLIR and TFR technology.
So the question here is what ERA you want to have pre-Lantirn or after? this needs to be researched to when the blk 40 squadrons started to use Sniper -

Are u sure??? In my stock korea botg 40 and 42 has them… maybe u fubared your db? As i said many times Stock Korea (mine at least and i modded only when testing My models) Has 40 with a Sniper pod and 42 with a Lantirn. If the switch is not turned on on the fm file then your solution is the best. to turn it on from there. If you are looking to have it as seperate weapon it doesnt have of course cause they are built in with the model

EDIT : OK, ok , ok, the switch is off at the FM file for the block 40 the pod is there though… as the TFR switch as well… For the 42 its on by default

I was misunderstood that you ment about the pods… my mistake, yes the sollution is to be turned on in the fm file. and you do have them afterwards, quick research… the fm file doesnt have anywhere anything
about the filr… -
For that matter, the block 50 has the sniper pod… but TFR and FLIR turned off in its dat file as well.
I always just associated FLIR/TFR with lantirn pod.
So should all of these blocks have FLIR and TFR turned on?

Dunno needs some research… and as edited above my latest post… i cannot find anywhere about the Flir in the fm files… maybe in the afm? i dont know…

I don’t believe the sniper pod can do those things… that’s why I miss the Lantirn pod on the block 40.

But like you said @manos, sounds like it has been phased out of use… “The LANTIRN nav pod was never replaced or supplanted by the targeting systems that came after it, particularly when flying low-level missions fell almost completely out of favor.”

Lantirn is if the model has imbeded Lantirn pod i dont think it has anything to do with the FLIR, if it does why 52 is Flir capable even with the sniper? doing some research now, I dunno bout the sniper but when i read that even strike eagles are start using it… that says a lot

@gza036 have you tried to do some research? Sniper pod might have all the capabilities of the Lantirn pods.
