Laggy particle effects?
-
So I just came back to BMS after a hiatus and got my install up to date. It’s running at a rock solid 60FPS on an empty single player training mission, but the particle effects appear to be running at a much lower FPS. The explosions through the TGP seem laggy, even though the frame rate is steady. Dispensing flares looks similarly laggy with them jumping around, sometimes even shooting out forward in front of the airplane (an issue I experienced in MP before, but never in SP) before lagging their way back…still locked at 60FPS overall. The fires on the ground do the same thing. I honestly have no idea what’s going on but I can almost guarantee it’s not an issue with my PC: Water cooled i7-7700k (stock clock), GTX 1070, 16GB RAM, BMS is on an NVMe SSD, very clean physically and virtually. Runs DCS at almost max settings with no issues.
Here’s a clip of the fires to illustrate what I’m talking about:
Flares:
Explosion:
Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

well do it other wise m8.
Run a log tool for both cpu and gpu.
set it to log.
run falcon do the flares and explosion thing
then analyse your log.
I’m sure you will find the issue. For log monitoring
MSI afterburner
HWiNFO
and there is a new comer called CAM which says it displays graphs while you play, so you see the spikes. Never used it. -
Okay so that is not normal though, right? I was starting to wonder if BMS had always been like that, but I just hadn’t noticed it before. Watching videos on YouTube seem to show much smoother explosions and flares, although I still don’t understand how the sim is smooth (the airplane, HUD, etc) while specific things aren’t smooth…

Issue has been resolved. I verified everything was working properly with HWiNFO (great tool btw). I tried replacing particlesys, turning all graphics options off or as low as they would go in both the configuration, sim, and through my Nvidia control panel and nothing changed…the particle effects still lagged. So finally I just decided to nuke my BMS install and start fresh. Updated to U5 and everything is back to looking smooth.
