Returning to Falcon - Trouble with X52
-
Guys,
With a new build, i’ve reinstalled Falcon BMS up to U5 and cant seem to get my Saitek X52 to work properly.
I downloaded the latest profiler driver –- the Saitek site forwarded me to the logitech X52 HOTAS software 8.0.213.0 and driver 8.0.116.0.
I’ve tried to install both Blackhawk’s and KesMonkey’s X-52 profile and, while the throttle thumb joystick works (radar cursor control), I cant seem to get everything else working properly. The profile doesn’t seem to be fully loading into Falcon itself.
I’ve followed both set-up guides to the letter, but I cant seem to get this to work.
I think, reading the forums that BMS works better using just the BMS Direct X button handling.
Therefore, perhaps this is the route to go.
Can anyone advise please.
Ade

On my X-52 at least (which I no longer use actively), I found it better using DirectX buttons rather than the SST software.

Be sure that the X52 is set as the controller under Setup > Controllers
(in this pic, my x52 is not plugged in so it has defaulted to my Razer Tartarus - and this is a problem that can occur and stop a flight stick from functioning in BMS)*Also, consider checking out the Alternative Launcher for BMS – it has a GUI that lets you set your key bindings (with pinky shift states) that generates the proper DX assignments for your X52 without needing SST software (avoid SST if possible!):

hey thanks
i’ll take a look.
So, ive reinstalled everything…again. And this time, I’ve gotten the stick working. Frustratingly every now and again, I lose the use of the throttle joy stick and have to restart

The alternative launcher is pretty good at keeping everything set as it is supposed to be between sessions, etc. But no idea about issues during a flight. My stick can cut out once in awhile when the plug gets disconnected, but can just reconnect and it’s fine.
