TIR problems
-
I recently broke my TIR 5 Pro Clip and just rcvd the new one in the mail a few days ago. I’m having the same problems with the new clip as I had with the old clip.
When I hold my head “dead” still, I’m getting movement in the pit. I’m unable to hold the view on a “hard hold” to be able to click any controls.
How do I fix this?
Thanks.

go into the TrakIR set up - the one showing the range of movement graph and set a “dead zone” in the middle - so instead of your profile looking like a V it looks more like a U
there are different profiles in this forum for you to try …. most if not all have dead zones in them to over come the problem you face …

Hi Seacat, can be three things:
1. light source behind your head -> TIR will have a hard time picking the correct lights if the light filtering threshold is too low -> check in the TIR-tool if the camera is picking up any red/green spots other than your clip lights.
2. your curves are too high -> small RL translation has a big impact in game.
3. overall sensitivity is too high or smoothing too small. -

I don’t really have deadzones and I don’t have this problem, however I do have some smoothing enabled. Deadzones create a kind of snap region but don’t really do anything when you leave the center. It’s all a matter of preference of course, but deadzones are not the root of the problem I suspect.

That’s why you have v curves, and not a flat line with a hard dead zone. Plus, you don’t want a complete dead zone, just have the movement slowed and you won’t end up with a hard ‘notch’ at centre.
