X-55 H.U.D. HMCS axis on rotary
-
Thank you for this, even if I don’t actually need it because my RTY 3 & 4 are set as MSL and THREAT volume. But the theory is very good and can be used for something else.
It would be nice to have some kind of “X-55 official thread” with tips and tricks from every owner for setting up complicated things or advanced tricks like this one.
For example, I can’t figure out how to program the nipple to slew, so I’m currently using H3. H4 is CMS and I’ve set COMM to use the pinky switch on the left throttle for UP and DN, and the two buttons on the right throttle for COMM left/right.

on the nipple, I’ve setup bands and assign keyboard shortcuts to the last 25% or so of up/down/left/right (to keep it nice and clear/distinct) - someone was talking about a binding through axis but I haven’t researched that yet
still playing with the rotaries but I’m here
p.s. my H.U.D. profile is always up to date on drop box
mind you, sharing profiles is problematic in Falcon as joystick numbers might be different from yours, your key file might be different so you’ll have to diff or replace and so on and so on

I’ll try and see if I can set that up. Anyway, why do you have uncage on RDR Elev? The setup that best matches the real F-16 is to have uncage on the range knob. On the bottom knob I have cursor enable.

that … makes sense actually, thanks

Hi B4DShot,
Lay-out looks nice. I want to try out the config file cause I seem to have some issues getting the HOTAS to run (boy oh boy am I pissed I sold my Cougar 4 years ago… :S ) I just installed everything again so I might have dumb questions, but for the .Pro file, I can just copy the code and paste it over the content in the FalconBMS.Pro file in the original folder? Is there anything I need to pay attention to in the config screen afterwards to get the mouse stick to work on the throttle?
Thanks.

That’s interesting. I went into the game and bound one of my rotaries to brighten/dim the HMCS and I have no problem with it working for me after doing that straight through the game interface.

Opposed to interesting…I’d call it frustrating…

Are you turning on the HMCS during startup by chance? According to all info I have it’s not on by default (the click from ‘off’ has to be ‘wired’). Once you turn it on of course the axis will take, the goal here was to avoid the on/off click.
but hey, as long as it works …

The Pr0 file is Saitek’s H.U.D profile - you can place it wherever you can load it from the H.U.D. profiler.
Issue is that it uses keypresses that need to be configured in your key-file (here the HCMS on/off key). Then you still have to assign all axes in BMS itself as the order of joysticks is not guaranteed, etc. It’s a major pain.
I’d take this as an example and work on my own H.U.D/button-key assignment exercise from scratch to be honest.
(I know using key-bindings everywhere with a matching key-file would make this easier to transfer/reuse - but DX is better I hear so there ya go)
bad

Well yes, when I do ramp starts I do turn it on, but mapping it to my rotary also works when Dogfighting and in Instant Action Mode, where I am not performing ramp starts.
