TIR and zoom problems
-
Good morning, Gentlemen.
I’m experiencing a weird issue with TIR interfering with the ‘zoom’ commands…
I can’t zoom in or out any longer, no matter of any kind of commands I could set or even the keyfile could load.
And I’m flying as if I were almost in the back seat. Bah.
TIR is running perfectly and the same all the other commands on keyboard and HOTAS (a Saitek X-56, BTW).Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance! With best regards,

Good morning my dear friend Gianni,
have you checked the settings under "setup -> controllers -> advanced -> view control? Maybe something flipped your z axis control? Also check your falcon bms.cfg w/r to the enable trackIR axis (or whatever the setting’s called, I’m not at my gaming rig right now so I can’t look it up).
All the best, Uwe

Good evening, dear friend Uwe.
Thanks for your reply, first of all.
Well, about your first question, yes, I did, and I found out that when in flight I can’t zoom either using the keyfile commands or those ones custom set within the BMS controllers/advanced/ view control menu. After, there is nothing not working properly in my HOTAS to my knowledge, I’ve already checked it in Windows/peripherals and in that specific Logitech utility as well.
About your third, I’m afraid I didn’t get what you suggested to check. When you can, would you be so kind to explain it to a ‘noob’ as sure I am?Thanks in advance, with best regards.

In-cockpit is not “zoom” but instead “FOV.” The word zoom means to move the camera which is not what happens in cockpit. The only translation axes available are X Y and Z. Movement along the camera axis is not available. You will see that zoom can function in other views, e.g. orbit. “FOV” means to change the camera angle which is mapped to the display and can be used in the cockpit.
FOV can be set to keyboard, DirectX joystick axis, or TrackIR Z control. There’s also mouse control. If FOV is set to anything other than keyboard then I think callback control of zoom is not possible.
To check I would set TrackIR to Z-position (not FOV), FOV axis to ‘keyboard’, and then try to change FOV using key callbacks. If that doesn’t work I would check falcon cfg file for maximum, default, and minimum? FOV values to ensure nothing was messed up.

A big thanks a lot to you too, Frederf.
Interesting, even if I already knew all that I haven’t thought to make some experiment with those TIR settings.
I’ll try to apply these hints and I’ll let you all know further, it will be another useful experience worth to share… you never know. With best regards,

Read and tried soon, Gentlemen.
After set TIR to the Z position and the zoom command to keyboard, I found out that I was able to zoom in and out rotating the mousewheel accordingly.
Weird this - on not, instead? Well, issue solved, but anyway there must be something working on its own strange way in my BMS installation, don’t you too think?
Thanks again for your help. With best regards,
-
Hello my dear friend Gianni,
I’m glad to hear you managed to solve your problem. Sorry for the late reply, I only saw this thread had been updated just now.
All the best, Uwe

Just for the record: a good Windows (v. 1809 updated) reinstalling from scratch solved the thrill and the apparently graphic issue.
I already should had to realize it. Bah.Thanks to all for the assistance and sorry for bothering.
With best regards.
