Cougar profiles, non DX only
-
Hey brothers
I use to have a collection of such profiles but lost them and cant find any on the net any longer.
The one sin the BMS folder are okay but I like leveraging the switchology options more.
Cheers.

unless you want to use your stick as a chorded keyboard, you can do that with DX also. Well worth considering if you arent aware of the drawbacks to using keyboard commands.

Does anyone have any other please?
Particularity non DX ones…DX only profiles don’t leverage the programmability of the Cougar very well.

DX for sure has its limitations for sure.
A toggle function or invoking two commands at the same time for example. True. But apart from that what are you trying to achieve which is not possible with just unshifted / shifted states of the device?
If you need an example how to use Foxy programming / DX at the same time you should have a look at Dunc_DX.Or are you just telling us that you are too lazy to figure it out on your own?
If I can be of any help let me know.

Im too lazy to BUILD it on my own, I know how.
Really Im just looking for an existing non-DX profile that I can modify.

Roger.
I can’t provide one.Good luck!

Using keystrokes mapped to your cougar instead of dx mappings is a really bad idea…

Why so…I been doing that for a decade with no issues

so you dont want to build a keyfile, but you want to modify one…
you should probably start by figuring out what functionality you want the stick to have. Once you know that, the resulting requirements will point either to DX or keyboard.
If you want the stick to work like the real thing, then just plug it in. The default keyfile works with a Cougar and gives the same switchology as the real aircraft.
If you want to be able to press and hold the uncage, and then press the trigger and pickle at the same time, and have that jettison stores, then you will need to use some joystick emulator software to connect the stick and BMS.
That approach will work fine, until the first time you run into a crossed control, and the software latches a shift key, and you eject for no apparent reason.
(If its not abundantly clear, Id recommend using the DX approach, and use the same controls the real aircraft designers went with).

How about when you have shift modifiers etc. on way the speedbrake switch. That shift key means that you cannot send out any other keystrokes whilst you’re actuating the speedbrake without undesired actions; simultaneous keystrokes are going to be constantly stepping on each other. Simply not a problem with dx mappings.
Blue Wolf explains it better, but if using keystrokes on your cougar is not a problem, then you’re not pressing enough keys at once.

I Only had issues when landing.
And had many more functionalities, unrealistic maybe but functional.
Only issue I had was to brakes out to be able to nws.
Yesterday the “perfect” dx tms was changing things in the ded. Yeah tell me how good it is, and I felt guilty not using it all those years.
Let’s talk about throttle…
Can you with dx like in real have more distance for the AB?
Well you can non dx and it sucks now that I have just a tiny distance with dx, oh and I moved the throttle rings.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

of course you can with DX! You simply change the AB point in the setup screen.
The TMS shouldnt be changing things in the DED. I suspect here that you dont have your controls set up correctly….
Arty, I have to worry that you are flying a totally different sim than the rest of us, sometimes.
-
Even though the distance is very small, i told u i already altered the rings in the tqs. And its not logical to have 10% for nonab and 90% for ab. Same for vice versa or 50-50.
With non dx you can have the whole distance just for ab.
Can u in dx? NO.
Not different but altered. I recall some procedure when aa and ag and had to switch back to normal for some functions but a minor compromise.Anyway i switched to dx lets see how it goes.

You want to use the whole axis travel distance for AB? Well, you can do that with Foxy, but it still uses DX. Not keyboard commands!
-
And at the same time have the ability to have and non ab for the full distance?

Arty, I’m quite shocked I have to say… I have to echo blu3wolf’s comments above. If simply plugging your cougar into bms on the standard dx mapped profile then you either have a faulty device or it isn’t set up right. You should never have to worry about key bindings clashing with one another, especially on landing.
Using keystrokes on buttons or dx will have zero impact on axis, unless you have different calibration files set between profiles.
-
Nope u got it wrong. Landing issue was with no dx profile.

Exactly. Shift b for brake would be a continuous command, so if you wanted to press G to raise the gear for a go around, you’d run into problems. DX removes all of this worry as it’s direct button mapping; no middle man of a joystick pretending to be a keyboard. Dunc’s profile in the docs folder will be what you need, and you can very easily add keystrokes on top of it for non BMS functions such as TIR etc.
