Really strange performance issue (and possible tip for NVIDIA users)
-
Hi,
my rig:
i5 [email protected]
16 GB of RAM
GTX 1070 w/ 8GB of VRAMEverything maxed out, with v-sync enabled.
Far from hi-end, but still very capable.
I have found that even in dogfight I was not able to reach stable 60 FPS, the situation got worse after adding clouds, my FPS dropped to as low as forty or even thirtysomething frames per second! But then I run one of training missions, the one with Mavericks deployment during thunderstorm. In this mission I also had problems with FPS, but once I turn on WPN or TGP page my FPS increased to stable 60 FPS! I played with turning it off and on and the result was always the same: without MAV/TGP I am having 50+ FPS, with MAV/TGP I am having 60/61FPS. I tried to record with Shadowplay as a proof, but then I have discovered that I am not able to reproduce this performance issue. I went back to dogfight, no MAV/TGP, clouds, poor performance and I decided to record it. And my FPS went again to stable 60 FPS!
It looks like, at least in my case, BMS is performing worse in less demanding situations. Shadowplay with recording running in background boosted my FPS

Have u considered uninstalling nvidia experience?

Just flew the Mav training TE with everything/eye candy maxed out. With TGP/Mav off: constant 80-90 FPS
TGP/MAV on: constant 75-80 FPS

Do you have your Nvidia config panel set for “prefer maximal performances” instead of “optimal power” when running BMS?
-
GF Exprience uninstalled - no difference.
NVIDIA set to ‘prefer maximum performence’ - no difference. How much FPS do you have in ‘Benchmark’ mission (everything maxed out @ FullHD, minus motion blur from config panel). I am getting 43 FPS once loaded into the cockpit.

Benchmark Test on Runway
56 to 59 in the Pit (I use Vert Sync currently)
Drops to 44 with TGP on……oh I can see rain in the TGP was that there already?

I´v seen similar behavior and have an Nvidia-card. I also thought the setting “prefer maximum performance” would mend that, but no. I used a gpu-monitoring software “GPU-Z” to see what was going on and it is indeed gpu-load that alters inconsistent but is not remedied by performance setting.
Findings:
Instant action - Feet wt: 125fps; GPU-load: 45%, CPU:21%
Instant action - Feet dry: 75fps; GPU-load: 30%, CPU:23%
EDIT: Tested FPS -quest Focus shadow and water enviroment shadow stalling the system=Driver issue perhaps
VIDEO-Memory remains after first 3d to second 3D: 500-700mb and stacks= Dont do that.
