Double Dragon - PRC Carrier Off Map
-
Hi all,
I ran a TASMO mission early in the DD campaign; the evening of day 1 I think. The mission was a success, landing 4 or more 84As on the carrier, sinking it and leaving the ‘base’ at 0%.
I noticed, however, that 12 hours later there are still a lot of J11s in that area, and all other J11 bases are destroyed too. I flicked over to the PRC team and lo and behold, there is another carrier off the map to the West of Ongjin, CV-16 Liaoning.
Moving over to Mission Commander, I see there are several PRC squadrons reporting their home as “Nowhere (Off Map)”, some of which I presume to belong to aforementioned carrier.
First question, and lets get this potential stupid, blond question out the way… Is this just a second carrier that I don’t know about, that is ‘en route from China’, soon to enter the theatre, but already generating flights?
Or is this a bug, with a remnant ghost CV16 being created to house the J11 squadrons/flights that were airborne when I sank the carrier earlier?
Apologies for the vague post; I don’t know if this is a bug and I’m not sure exactly how I’d fill in a correct report for this. I can provide lat/long for the off map carrier and have various acmis of flights taking off from a carrier that I cannot see in the 2D planner.
It’s in OOB (having disappeared after the successful TASMO)…
and when reconing it, this is what’s shown
Mission Commander CV16
Thanks!

There’s only 1 PRC aircraft carrier in this theater.
You may encountered enemy J-11s from airbases outside the map, which is NOT a bug, but simulates aircraft taking off from the regions BEIJING and JINAN in the far west of the Korean peninsula.
This will give you more challenges over the whole process of the campaign.

Sounds like it’s time to start working on a 128seg KTO?

Thanks, Nick. Hmm, I’m 99% sure the PRC carrier was sunk. It was on the map, west of N Korea amongst the other naval units. I tasked a large package, with two flights of F-16s with AGM-84As. We got at least 4 on target, and it was marked as destroyed 0%. It’s definitely ‘back’, but not on the 2D map, though it is in the OOB.
Very odd.
