X45 Rudder not recognised.
-
Hello all, I,m getting back into BMS but am having set-up issues with my X45 setup. In BMS setup it wont recognise my rudder control on the throttle. I know it works as i calibrated it in windows & it works in DCS World. Also I want to assign MSL step to a joystick button but i cant find anything about MSL Step in the function list to assign it to a joystick button. Cheers for any help. MartyG

Rudder assignment is behind the advanced button, category flight control. It is not correct procedure to change the primary controller in the drop down menu in the main control section in attempts to get auxilliary axes to work. Check all axis assignments since once an axis assigned to a function (brakes, volume knob, etc.) it won’t appear in the drop down menu for any other assignments. If using SST profile ensure that rudder axis is not set to produce button or other non-axis output.
Missile step button is located in section 5.11 FLIGHT STICK in BMS - Minimum.key (or similar). Label is “STICK: NWS A/R DISC MSL STEP SWITCH” third from the bottom of this section.

Thanks Fredef, Got the MSL sorted by using another profile that i can maybe mod to suit but as far as the rudder axis issue, When i go into controller setup then advanced, flight control the drop down for rudder already has my Saitek X45 selected but moving the rudder on throttle shows no blue bar movement. I,m sure I,m missing something simple as I know it works in DCS. cheers

I don’t know what axis is your throttle “rudder” paddle. Maybe it is not called rudder. Normal axes for DirectX are X Y Z rX rY rZ U V. See if you can see rudder action working here: https://html5gamepad.com/

Another twist found re my rudder, In controller set-up under avionics if I select rudder for radar elevation or range my rudder paddle is recognised but not in flight controls.

I think the little blue bar might not work inside the ADVANCED section but when you back out to the pitch-roll gray ball setup screen there’s a rudder bar out there. Try a taxi-start and see if it actually works on a running jet maybe?
