Fish's Voice Attack for BMS...
-
Oops,
There now.
V2, improved performance, and two sound files. I think the loud one is best. Thanks!
-
Thanks for including the beeps. Voice Attack now complains about them not being a proper WAV file, even though the file name ends in mp3. No biggie though, I converted the mp3 to WAV using audacity and renamed the exported WAV file back to mp3.
-
Another thing I noted: I copied your menu.dat from the archive to the location specified in the readme, but my menus still are the stock BMS ones. In the movie I see your menu moved to the center of the screen while mine is still in the upper right default location.
I verified that the files are identical:
$ diff menu.dat /cygdrive/e/bms434/Data/Art/CkptArt/menu.dat
Uwe@Uwe-PC /cygdrive/f/00Downloads/bms/tools/speech_recognition/vac_profile_fish44
so this much is looking good… any idea what could be causing this?
All the best,
Uwe

……your menu moved to the center of the screen while mine is still in the upper right default location……
Hey Uwe,
Best use V2, note sound file name (and file source) has changed. Unless you use 1440x3440 resolution, you won’t see any difference in menu position. For quick check of menu.dat, check the file mod dates or open game, and check WING, COMBAT 2. Should show ‘jettison stores’ . Original has 'Drop stores;from the readme…….
VA Profile
To use the profile,
1. Put the sound file (beep.mp3) into the VA sound folder (generally C:\Program Files (x86)\VoiceAttack\Sounds\beeps)
2. Import the profile into Voice Attack, OPEN VOICE ATTACK, ALT+I, then navigate to the BMS434-Profile.vap file.
3. Navigate to the …\BMS434\Data\Art\CkptArt\ folder, and backup the menu.dat file, then drop the one in from the profile.
4. If you want a louder sound (recommended), then rename the beepLoud.mp3 to beep.mp3V2 Updates.
–--------
Fixed a command in Item2.
Removed the 'Wait until sound completed, before other action", in most action commands to speed up the action.
Replaced the stock BMS sound with a custom sound (2 versions, normal and loud). -
Great idea with two commands…. I’ll keep using it for now.

Fish,
I don’t hear a beep and i get an error message in VA similar to the previous poster.
On my computer VA and the sound folder are located at D:\Programs\VoiceAttack\Sounds.
Similarly, Falcon BMS is located at D:\Programs\Falcon BMS\Falcon BMS 4.34\Data\Art\CkptArt.
Any suggestions for me to make an adjustment so that the sound will work as intended?
Thanks,
GC -
I just sorted my problem. I failed to add a subfolder called beeps before inserting the sound file.
On my computer, the sound file is now located at D:\Programs\VoiceAttack\Sounds\Beeps.
Note to self - Read and follow the README file more closely next time.
Thank you Fish for creating and sharing the profile.

@Fish:
(reference - page 216 of VoiceAttack manual for complete information)
- Make a folder called “Sounds”, then create your folder called “Beeps” inside it - then put your two sound files you want people to download inside the Beeps folder, inside the Sounds folder
- Take that Sounds Folder and the BMS434-Profile.vap, and create a .ZIP file containing those two items (not .7z).
- Rename this new Zip file extension to the .vax extension - example: BMS434-Profile**.zip** == BMS434-Profile**.vax**
- Finally, for distribution, you zip up that .vax package with your Readme.txt, the menu.dat, and the BMS434 Comms List.xlsx files.
*to help newer users, it can help to add a note in that package name like this: BMS434-Profile(IMPORT THIS).vax
When your users tell VoiceAttack to import that profile package, it will import the profile AND place your Sounds folder (merged) with their current VoiceAttack Sounds folder, wherever that may be. I notice already in your profile you use the token {SOUNDS} to handle the various paths that end users may use, so you are perfect there - this last method for packaging will ensure your users will have everything they need in place without any fiddling with files.

I have been using your VA profile for sometime (now with 4.35.3), but never had any success using the commands containing acronyms (e.g., request QNH, request QFE, install EPU pin, etc.) Is there some trick to it or is it a case that more voice training is needed? Are the acronyms to be stated slow or fast?
All other commands seem to work.
Thanks for making it available,
GC -
I found a solution to my question. It resolved all of the acronym-related commands except the two for the EPU pin. A bit more persistence will likely payoff.
Perhaps these instructions will help somebody in the future. The following works in VA version 1.8.9:
Open VA
Click on the wrench icon (bottom right)
Click on the Recognition tab, then click the Utilities box (upper right corner)
Select Add/Remove Dictionary Words
Select Add a New Word (also applies to expressions)
Type the word or expression (in my case, I typed Request Q F E, obviously the phrase must match a phrase in the Command line of the VA profile), select Next
Check Record a Pronunciation Upon Finish, click Finish
Click Record button and speak the word or expression
Click FinishAfter testing it repeatedly (with mixed results) in the VA main screen, I went to the Recognition table and reduced the Minimum Confidence Level in increments until the spoken phrase worked every time.

This voice profile combined with Fish’s excellent opentrack profile brings an extra dimension to BMS. Thanks for all the hard work.

Fish - Thanks for your Voice Attack profile - working great for me. One question on the .data file setup? I have 3 monitors, overall 5760-1080 total screen size. For the dialog boxes, they pop up in the far left screen. Bit tight on the old neck always looking over.
I saw the notes in your Voice Attack profile about re-setting the location of the dialog boxes, but am unclear which settings you would change, and where you would change these? Can you provide any clarity please for those who may run triple monitors
? Thanks. -
@Macman Comms menu position is now just a drag and drop. And it remembers it for next time. Cool stuff by the Devs.

Great! Doesn’t get much easier than that. Kudos again for the excellent and easy to use Profile.
