Kolbe’s button map in the directory Falcon BMS4.32\user\joystick\generic\Kolbe\input devices\CH Fighterstick & Pro Throttle shows that Hat2 Up is supposed to make the HUD the SOI. I can toggle the left and right MFDs as the SOI by pushing Hat2 down. However, if my SOI is either the right or left MFD and I push Hat2 Up nothing changes as the MFD indicator remains where it was and the HUD does not show any change. Is the HUD supposed to have an indicator to show that it is the SOI?

Yes, you will see an asterisk “*” in the HUD at the top left.

SOI HUD is only possible in a handful of situations so it’s very possible HUD SOI is not allowed in the situation you attempted it.

HUD SOI is marked with an asterisk (*) in the upper left corner of the HUD.

Since the only situations I’m in at this point are Nav situations, learning turning, landing and the other non-weaponized stuff, I don’t see the * (asterisk). So for trial & error, I tried switching to A-A or A-G. It seems that the only handful of situations will be in A-G. The * is never in the HUD in A-A and Nav.

Never in AA. It can happen in NAV I think with INS updates.

OK. After I get better at the basics of turning, landing etc. I’ll look for the * when INS is engaged. Thanks.

It’s not “when INS engaged” it’s when you are doing INS position updates which is never for 99.99% of BMS users.

That’s what makes these learning experiences so great. It’s when guys like you respond like that. I hope I remember to look for the “*” whenever I do a INS position update, which seems like I’ll be in the 99.99% for a long time right now.
