@SemlerPDX Figured it out, I’m a moron, I needed to be on BMS 4.37.2, I was still on .1. Thanks for the help!

@SemlerPDX I was having this issue - Running as administrator resolved it. Thank you.

Hey Guys, brand new to VA & AVCS4, got it installed and working.
I want to add some “Alternate Phrase Commands” but, having a problem.I "Say, “Create a new Voice Command”
it does ask if you are sure, I say, “Yes”The first pop-up will ask which type of command you want to create,"
I don’t get this pop-up box and 5 seconds later I get “command cancelled”
What am I doing wrong here?

@Badger
Does VoiceAttack recognize your “YES” correctly? Most of the time I have to repeat this in order to get to the popup. -
@Amadeus75 seems too
12:23:49.094 Listening suspended
12:23:46.605 Recognized : ‘yes’ (referenced)
12:23:44.697 Recognized : ‘create a new voice command’
12:23:41.957 Listening resumed
12:18:27.684 Listening suspendedwell I’ll be … I tried again and this time said “YES” a couple times and it worked. Thanks for the pointer.

@Badger LOL it usually takes me lowering my voice for it to pick up Yes from me

Me again, trying to figure out how to have both UHF/VHF HOTAS buttons start/stop listening so I can use either button?

Load up my AVCS4 BMS profile, then say, “Set a Push to Talk button” - follow the prompts.
You will need your control device listed in VoiceAttack Options, add it under Joystick Options on the main page:
(I happen to have these disabled unless I am using them, so be sure yours are enabled with that checkbox at the top) -
@SemlerPDX thank you sir. I already have PTT working, perhaps I wasn’t clear or misunderstand your reply.
I would like to have two PTT buttons. So both UHF & VHF on the HOTAS will Start / Stop listening

@Badger Once in while, single word commands can have issues being recognized regardless of the profile being used. There are a number of alternates and homophones for the confirmation command, but that being said, I have zero issues with saying “Yes” for any confirmation request from AVCS - I speak English natively, and have a Standard American Accent so that may be a factor.
I’d suggest that if you have trouble consistently with one-word responses, to say, “Yes I am” instead of just “Yes” - being more than one word, that phrase will have a much easier time being recognized by WSR and therefore VoiceAttack and my AVCS4 BMS (not that it matters, but technically, this “Voice Authorization System”, or VAS, is part of the AVCS CORE profile as a common function for any AVCS4 game profile I create).
-
@Badger You can set up to 6 total push to talk buttons in my AVCS systems, any of them can be a keyboard key, mouse button, or joystick/controller button.
Just say, “Add a Push to Talk button”, and chose an empty number or an existing number to edit it. Follow the prompts, you’ll figure it out - it’s easy
You can find this and all voice commands provided by AVCS4 BMS and AVCS CORE by saying, “Open the Command Reference”. At the bottom is an up-to-date infographic including each radio menu and their various radio calls that can be recognized by voice.

@SemlerPDX “add a PTT” that’s what I thought but wasn’t working so retraining speech recognition now.
Thanks again

@Badger It may be required to create a new Windows Speech Recognition profile if you have such issues, and then train that profile completely through the Speech Training session three times (at least).
It could be that your profile got borked over the years given that you used to use it for VAC.
If you merely have never gone through the speech training, then that is the issue - again, 3 times completely through at least. Once this is done, and you’re getting consistent good recognition, you can backup this speech profile so that you can restore it on a new computer or after reinstalling windows or any such issues.
You can find a link to the Speech Profile Backup and Restore utility by Microsoft here:

@Badger Just to add to this thread. I found that when it comes to speech recognition, its better to speak into the microphone “naturally” rather than a perfect precise pattern (unless that is your natural way of speaking). This will produce a better result when you’re in the pit. I remember reading somewhere that this is the way speech recognition works, its looking at the rise and fall of your speech. So the more you train it the better it works. Forget about pronouncing each word perfectly, no body speaks that way. Hope that helps.

Okay, I went through the speech training 3 times and that helped a lot.
New problem; I have the Cougar HOTAS and have assigned the UHF/VHF buttons as the PTT.
The UHF is the primary and the VHF as secondary.
When I press the UHF it often sends the listen stop listening twice on a single press.
When I press the VHF there is a delay in execution both listen and stop listening. If I make the VHF primary the problem follows so it doesn’t seem to be a problem in the switch plus I do not see any strange behavior in VAC or with IVC when using this switch.
Any thoughts on this?

@Badger I’m afraid I can’t seem to replicate that with my X52 Pro. I would suggest restarting VoiceAttack and reloading my profile to see if it has any effect, but I assume you’re reporting it because it’s been happening in more than one session/day already.
There is no difference between VHF or UHF as the systems in my profile see them. To them, it is just “JOYSTICK#BUTTON#” is/isn’t pressed (basically). You might try adjusting the polling frequency in VoiceAttack options for Joystick Options - though I’m not certain if a lower or higher value than what you have set now would be adviseable for troubleshooting, no harm playing around with it regardless.
Do report back if you continue to have these issues, or if you find a way past them. Wish I could help more.
-
@SemlerPDX Thanks man, yes reporting because it happens constantly.
I didn’t expect that there would be any difference in the software as to UHF / VHF button the test was to see if the problem persisted with the hardware button indicating a faulty button but, it did not.
Unfortunately adjusting the polling frequency up/down has no affect neither did removing / importing the profile over again.I’ll try a few other things but, it seems an odd problem specific to my hardware. I’ll try with nothing else running in the back round just to eliminate the possibility of a conflict.

@Badger Ensure your testing is consistent, as well. My PTT system uses debounce and delays, and so for avoiding false-positive or false-negative results, you should put a good 5 seconds between radio PTT button presses in testing. Under normal operation, overlaps like this are of no consequence, but since you are trying to evaluate exactly what is happening when you release a PTT button (given that you report 2x stop listening actions) it would be more important to keep these press-release tests separated by time.
Another thing to note is that as soon as you depress any PTT button for AVCS, you can begin talking - even if VoiceAttack “listening” has not yet toggled to “on” - sounds for notifications such as ‘start listening’ and ‘stop listening’ are highly recommended to be turned OFF in VoiceAttack options under the Audio tab along the top.
(uncheck the box for ‘Notification Sounds’)Essentially, there is no matter or issue with the stop listening action executing twice on a single release of the button - though it is programmatically incorrect and not what I experience or how I designed the system, it won’t hurt anything. So long as you have sound notifications off in VoiceAttack, you’d never even notice as a profile user.

@SemlerPDX Thanks again for a very informative reply.
Point of clarification; the listen/stop listening cycle happens as I press and hold the PTT button, however the disabling of the notification sounds maybe the key here. Will get back to you on this.
