Taiwan Theater after-action
After a few months break from BMS, I finally updated to 4.35 and thought i’d try out the new Taiwan theater. I join up with an F-CK-1 squadron, because its a cool aircraft. Normally I fly Hornets & Harriers off boats, so the Viper cockpit isnt my familar setting. Not to mention I havent flown BMS in months! I take an ‘easy’ escort mission to guard some American F/ A-18s performing an anti-shipping mission near the Chinese beach-heads. Its real quiet, save for a few hostile boat radars which I assume are my package target. I hear the bruiser calls from the Hornets and my element and I linger while I peer out the glass looking below for exploding ships. I see nothing, no reports of hits. I suppose the missiles were shot down? (since ships can do that now in 4.35) The Hornets head back to their carrier when I get a call that i’ve got hostiles near-by. My wingman is asking to engage, and I cut him loose while i’m still goofing around with my modes and finally remembering to flip on my master- arm switch. I pickle off a pair of Tien- Chien II missiles (Fox-3s) and crank hard assuming there must be missiles coming my way. My RWR is going bananas. I hear my wingman get shot-down so take a quick look behind me, I can two small jets maybe 10 miles away. I came here to fight, no sense in running home with missiles on the wings so I turn into them. A quick Fox-3 at one of them and before I know it i’m merging with the other guy. I see a Chinese J-8F flash past me and i’m slamming the throttle into blower trying to remember what little I can of the F-16 flight envelope. (I assume the F-CK-1 in- game uses an F-16 flight model or at least very similar to account for its two engines?) I crank into my turn way too hard and just bleed off energy, next thing you know i’m stalling. I think to myself, done ****ed up". So I just cut my throttle and let the jet flop downwards, just then I can see my adversary at my 5 o’clock. I’m a big floppy turkey and I see a missile trail come off his wing so i’m thumbing my dispenser like a meth-tweaker. Whoosh, it missed. Homeboy doesnt waste any time, he flips another one off his wing, again i’m flapping the buckets trying to fill the sky with flares. This one misses too. By now, he’s overshot me. I’m on the blowers again, this time trying to manage my turn. I feel like he’s trying to run rather than fight me, so he presents me an opportunity to put a Fox-2 up his tailpipe. I oblige him and then run for home. After I land, I start laughing. Somehow I survived that mess. Turn the mission was a fail, not one of those harpoons hit. (shot down?)

Taiwan 4.35.2 update now in first post.
If you happened to see it earlier and tried dl, sorry, I forgot to add tacref so I just pulled link real quick and made a new one. Will make hotfixes from this point forward on issues.The third campaign crashes on exit. But not before debriefing and opportunity to save.
I’m not sure yet what the issue is but will look more into it.Ccc has added a large amount of local war machines. And there are trainer jets for both teams just for fun.
If you win or lose campaigns, it will show fast “victory!” Video for winning team. I don’t think stalemate is probable, but there is one for that too. The info on winning objectives in Chuckles campaigns, is in docs folder.Happy flights!

I dodged a ton of sea sparrows too.
That’s the red side boats in “feet dry”
In “vertical” China and ROC have the correct ships.
If you put on labels, you can see the surface to surface missiles flying like a barrage of arrows. -

After it’s fixed there will be a update with a few more unit fixes from ccc.It may stand for a while after that while the db gets an overhaul to ccc’s ez conversion setup.

We did a Big Ass Fight campaign with China taking Taiwan in 2019. I love the options of the campaigns at different stages. We will have to do the retake of Taiwan in BMS.

So how are the Type 52D modelled for SAMS? they appear to be some hybrid of SA-10 radar + SM2ER missile?? Just trying to get an idea of their range, and they appear to emit nothing when fired at you.

What i’m asking is how were these ships modelled in the theater, not IRL. Are they just re-skinned Ticos or Arleigh Burkes with some tweaks? When i’m planning say a TASMO against them, what threat radius should I considering?
